Sunglasses

Post by Jake »

Okay, I just got home from school and I happen to turn my TV on with CSN and I see Clinton Portis. When I turn it on, I see he has sunglasses!

Clinton, it's INDOORS! You don't wear those inside! Are you trying to show the Redskins fans what you bought with your signing bonus? :?

Okay, I will give you credit for shaving that fuzz off your chin!

Yeah, even my 2 year old was laughing the other day when we saw his little chin hair thing.

I can't speak for everyone, but I wasn't happy to see Champ go. He was actually pretty down to earth. I also don't think he was self-centered or a non-team player. I think he saw everyone around him get overpaid and he wanted his peice of the pie.

Come on Smizzy, no player is worth 10 million a year. The fact is I love Champ but Portis will have more of an impact in this offense if healthy. We should not have given up the pick. Portis contract is considerably cheaper than Bailey's. Anyways Portis wasnt a Jet so why are you so upset???

This is true, but we did get at least two very good players that would've occupied his cap space.

Smizzy: The knock on Portis is based on a single quote which he repeatedly tried to mitigate by saying over and over again he would not hold out, regardless of his contract. Bailey, on the other hand, flat out turned down a generous contract on more than one occassion. And look at their cap numbers, if the Skins had singed Champ to that kind of deal their off-season would already be over. Many, many people on this board have acknowledged how good Champ is time and time again. But he made it clear he did not want to be in DC any longer. And if you think for a minute that Gibbs is going to have a petulant brat on the roster, think again.

Must be parts of this board that I'm not privy to, 'cause I haven't seen that. From what I could see, folks were pretty much resigned to losing Champ, and felt that at least this way, something good would come from it. No one wanted to see possibly the best cover corner in the league leave.

....The whole Bronco team was upset with him dancing on the sidelines with his "championship "belt....

Postis is a good back....was he worth the money and the pick?

Im not so sure....

I think portis will be fine in wash....but you better hope he get a little more weight on him.

Smizzy, only time will tell if he is worth the money but I would not have traded that 2nd rounder if I was maming the moves.

i think everyone here in redskins land was sad to see champ go but it was inevitable. i think we got someone in portis who will put points on the scorboard. and as far as him showboating that will fad when he comes to this organization. the fans here dont appriciate that kind of nonsence.. remmember smoot when he first came here. all mouth..but after a few years and some muturity that kind of deion sanders wanna be attitude has faded and smoot is gaining alot more respect than he ust to enjoy from the fans.

Why?
He hasnt played a full season yet.
He is a small back who i don;t think can take the pounding of a full NFL season with that small frame...so he needs some weight.

Your just going to tell me how he doesn't and how he's better than curtis...save your breath.

I didn't mean to imply Champ was a petulant brat but that there won't be any of those on a Gibbs team

Trung isn't an every down back, he was a mistake but Portis is a top 5 back any way you cut it.

Sorry, I missed that Trung conversation...forgive me if I don't buy into your dismissal of Portis just because of what you said about Trung last year. Hmmm, maybe you can be useful: who do you like in the 6th at Belmont?

Yeah i'd say something like that  Got to your OWN board and read me sticking up for your boy curtis when your own fans were lambasting him last year. Uninformed assumption.

As for the not having played a full season yet... pretty sure that not only was that apparent to you as a new York jet fan, it was also apparrent to Hall of Fame legendary coach Joe Gibbs... oh sure... maybe Smizz thought of something that coach Gibbs did... but somehow I doubt it. I'm sure Gibbs has given more thought on how to make effective use of Clinton portis than you or i will ever be capable of... including putting him in situations to do so. Gibbs didn't bring Bubba tyer back for any other reason than to give Gibbs his personal OK to the physical ability of anyone brought in...

Does that mean he'll play 16 games next year? Absolutely not. Does that mean you don't want him on your team? Apparently in Smizz' world it does. It makes me laugh to hear you spin the injury yarn when your whole season will again rest on the laurels of a young quarterback who missed how many games last year?

Your the guy who is resting on Gibbs laurels...

Tell gibbs to win his 1st game before you give him another parade.
