What Danny wants, Danny gets. It will be really cool to see Antwaan Randle El in the fold next year. Can't wait!

Gibbs is still calling the shots for now and I think he will "work" with the offensive caoches and try to find someone that will fit in with what they all want. IMO Snyder will continue to let Gibbs have his team for now.
I think that Patten may prove to be an asset and may want to make an impression but I am not sure he has the little extra to be a #2 - he will be a contributor though. I think we will have to be deeper at WR than we were this year.

I think though the main focus is going to be the depth on both lines. On both sides of the ball we have to have good linemen and some quality depth. I think that we will be better at both run blocking (and pass blocking) and we need to get some pressure on the opposing QB.

Yeah, I'd give Koren Robinson another shot, he's a pretty physical guy who could compliment Moss...

But really, in an ideal situation I'd want Taylor Jacobs to improve.

I mean, he's a smart route runner, he has pretty good hands... he just needs to learn to be more physical and get stronger...

He could maximize his potential and really be a hell of a #2 I think.

Talk about a guy getting pushed around by defenders -- Jacobs seems scared of the ball at times! This guy just stinks -- he's got "stone hands" syndrome and seems to just shy away from making plays. I love his size but he's not worth putting anything more into.

I advocated for Jacobs all year. He got his chance and squandered it. He needs to go and get a change of scenery. I think Spurrier squandered his career and Ramseys. Both of these guys had potential but didn't get any good coaching during their development stages.

i like either notre dame guy, stovall or samardizja (sp?) unless sam. isnt coming out...in which case i still like stovall.

i also like calvin johnson from georgia tech, i think he's a senior and could be a 3rd rounder if we're lucky. he's got size and hands and adequate speed.

Calvin Johnson is a sophmore and will be a 5 pick when he comes out.

While I've heard the "Spurrier ruined (insert name here)" statment alot, I don't think it holds much water. Though we had pretty bad records those two years (7-9 & 5-11) we also had Champ & Lavar make the Probowl twice, and Coles made it once. Spurrier didn't ruin anyone, they really just couldn't play ball in that system -- one that's really not suited for NFL defenses. That's all.

Ramsey and Jacobs have both gotten two years to prove themselves in this new ball control/max protect offense with Gibbs. Ramsey had his starting opportunities but never impressed the coaching staff, as evidenced with Brunell's reinstatement. Jacobs was given every opportunity to shine with Patten out most of the year. He dropped a ton of balls and seemed to get pushed around by any defender in his way.

While I think Spurrier is a putz of a coach, I'm not thinking he ruined anyone. Ramsey and Jacobs are mediocure at best and it's strictly because of talent (or lack thereof).

When Spurrier and that whole bunch was here we didn't develop our younger guys. We just brought in peolpe to replace them. They weren't really given a chance.

Ive seen marked improvement in Ramsey since Gibbs has been here but his level is still below where we need it to be. Ramseys too old for his level of development and I think he either was stagnant or regressed under Spurrier.

We've been saying how our current coaching staff is so great and I dont doubt for one second that their ability to develop players is way more advanced than a college coach who was always given the best of the best via recruiting.

Randel El is not going to leave the Steelers. I live in Steeler country right now. The Steelers are going to pay him and he is going to stay.

The steelers aren't known for keeping players at any cost (see Plaxico Burris). Randle El would be a nice fit and an extremly dangerous #2 threat. Freeing up the double teams that Moss and ey saw later in the year. Not only that but it would make for a nasty double reverse or screen reverse threat.

C'mon now,

He had half a year in 2004 when we were out of it and the first half of the first game in 2005... how does that equal two seasons?

I for one never agreed with Coach Gibbs decision to bring in Mark Brunell (especially not at that price) and it may yet come back to haunt us. In 2003 Patrick Ramsey completed 53% of his passes for 2,166 yards, 14 TD's 9 INTS in 11 games... those were pretty good numbers, yet he was replaced...

Then when Brunnell was mercifully taken out of the lineup Ramsey came in and did pretty well learning a new offense pretty much on the fly...

He was promised the starting job directly after the season for 2005 but Joe Gibbs, while no liar (I think of lying as having malice behind it) the coach certainly had a change of heart.

It worked out in the end, but Ramsey wasn't treated too well by this team. Yet he was the good soldier and cheered the team success even though he knew that he wasn't going to be getting the ball.

I wish him luck someplace else, I'll always be a fan of his... until he plays Washington, lol.


But I don't want anyone to get me wrong, I am glad to have a QB of the future hand picked by Coach Joe Gibbs.

In general, I agree with you about Spurrier. But I absolutely think it's wrong with Taylor Jacobs.

Jacobs was coached/developed by Spurrier at Florida, to be a 2nd round draft pick. The guy entered and played in the same system in the NFL he was in college.

He got banged up, and it slowed his progress a lot. But when given the chance by Gibbs, he didn't show any heart. That's mostly what it came down to, for me. Coming back to get the ball when poorly thrown...he just gave up. He wouldn't fight for the ball, or to get open.

Randle El has always looked great to me. Somebody explain to me why he has such lousy stats.

#2 WR on a team that completed 228 passes on the year. Hines Ward got 70 of them. Randle-El got 35 (he caught 5 balls once this year, as his high mark). Cedric Wilson got 26.

It's what you expect when you are in a run heavy offense.

Remember we are talking about a number 2 wide out. Patten was doing well until he got hurt. Give him a chance.
