Ramsey's new colors

Post by ChiefPowhatan17 »

What new colors, do you think, Ramsey will be dawning next season?

I think he is going to be in Green and white. Jets.

I'm going to add a few options in order from what I think is most likely to least likely:

Dolphins
Jets
Cards
Raiders

Burgundy & Gold

(we won't give him away, i.e., 5th-7th round pick)

This is an interesting take on it. I never thought of him remaining here because Gibbs seems to oblighe players who want to be traded, and I think that is what Ramsey wants. But if Saunders would rather have two experienced QB's make this Superbowl run...then maybe he stays out the deal.

I really have a hunch he's outta here, but I would not be surprised if we keep him if no realistic offers come across the desk.

I would be in favor of trading him and Ladell Betts to Arizona for Anquan Boldin.

There is NO way Denny Green "gives" Boldin away for Ramsey and Betts...I'd do that trade, but can not imagine the Cards would do it.

This isnt baseball. Trades like that don't happen in the NFL.

I think Ramsey will be a Redskin next year.

What sport are you watching? Trades in the NFL happen every year. Moss for Coles, Chump and a pick for Portis...I don't know where you've been. The majority of trades happen in and around the draft packaged with picks...so I'm not sure what you're talking about. It is hard to trade in the NFL with the cap implications, system changes, and traded players wanting to re-do their deals. But players like Ramsey and Betts who are in the final years of their first contracts are often traded if the team is not going to be able to re-sign them.

Even that being the case, I don't think that trade would happen, but to say trades like that don't happen in football is misinformed. I said "I would want" to make that trade, not that it would happen.

I know a lot about football.

I know that teams don't usually trade young Pro Bowl players for 2 backups.

I never said YOU didn't know anything about football. I also never said that this trade WOULD or COULD happen. I said that I would LIKE for it to happen. There is a big difference there.

By the way...you are a fan of a team that just did what you claim doesn't happen. We traded Coles (a player who made the Pro-Bowl) for Moss...a special teams player and so-called #2 receiver.

Trades happen. The problem with the Cardinals is that they have TWO pro-bowl receivers on the same roster and they are both in their rookie contracts. They will likely be unable to keep them both, so trading one of them for need would not be wholly unbelievable.

Like I said, I don't think this trade would happen, and I never said it would. Just said if I had the choice, which I don't, I would explore the option with them to see if they are willing to part ways with a receiver they would likely be unable to afford in the future.

If we can trade Betts and Ramsey for Boldin believe me I am all for it.

I just don't think it's realistic at all.

Moss at least started for the Jets and was their best WR. Plus, Coles wanted out. As far as I know Boldin has not said anything about wanting to leave. These are very different circumstances in my mind.

I'd like to get soemthing for Ramsey, but I'd be surprised if he brought us more than a 4th round draft pick.

ladell betts was a spark plug for us all season, and he's the best compliment to portis we have. I'd save him and package a mid-round pick with ramsey to ship him off to the cards or whoever wants him. betts should stay, he was invaluable and if, god forbid, portis go down, i'd rather have him carrying the rock than well, rock.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

skinsfano28 hit the nail on the head. Betts could develop into a full time back at some point. Gibbs said it himself last year around this time. Gibbs once thought that all Betts could be was a third down back. Then he retracted this statement and told Betts that he could one day be a full time back. So if we hold onto him, his value won't increase as a back-up. We can keep him for a moderate salary and if, knock on wodd, Portis ever goes down, Betts will be an excellent substitute.

Keep Betts.
Ramsey to Detroit for a 5th rounder.

Betts is a good back when he plays, but he's injury prone. I don't think he's played a full season yet without getting injured. I'd be all for trading him for something, but I don't think he'll be worth to much.

I don't know too many backs that don't get injured. Look at all the big name guys, few play every game of the year just because of the wear and tear of playing that position.

I can think of about 1/2 dozen teams who wish they had ladell as a starting back. Two in our own division. Ladell has proven to be a nfc east runner, just watch the highlights from this season of him slamming into the d lines he played against.

On the other hand if we can get a quality, quality wr in return then i say you trade him, but you can't write ladell off as just some old backup in this league. He has Stephen Davis like potential, remember S. Davis sat for a while as a back up before he exploded on the scene.

Well in AZ they would probably both be starters, but yes it would be crazy for the Cards to make that trade.

Word around the Cardinal's campfire is that Denny Green is hot-to-trot for a reunion with Daunte Culpepper. I think Boldin could be reserved for trade-bait in that situation.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."
