Yes. Technically he was, but I think it was understood that he would play football out of high school, but running track is where he got the money.
He was Big East Champion in the 200 I think. One of those sprints he won, and I think Antonio Brown came in second at West Virginia.

Butch Davis arrived at Miami about the time they were hit with massive probation. A ton of good players got scholarships for academic standing, track, and such then basically played a bit in the other sport while focusing on football.
Also, Moss owns a couple Big East indoor track records.
