We should go after Jurevicius

Post by skinsfanpsu »

I think that Jurevicius would be perfect for what we need as opposed to randle el or someone in the draft. He is a big, posession reciever who can go over the middle and make catches. The guy always makes plays when needed, and finds himself in the right position. Hes also been with three teams, and all of which got to the super bowl.

Im pretty sure that he is a free agent, and im sure we could pull him away from seattle if we wanted.

He's certainly an underrated player - well, I can honestly say that I've always been guilty of underrating him.

The main concern I'd have about him is his productivity. He only averages 30 catches per year, and he's only gone over 50 twice. In my opinion, we need a guy who will go out and catch 60-70 passes a year, and I don't think that Jurevicius is that man.

As RiC said, welcome aboard. :)

I wouldn't disagree with our personel staff if we did sign him. Jurevicus would be an upgrade over Patten based on their 2005 seasons.

Jurevicus impressed me last night.

Jurevicus is decent, but not the guy we should pursue. He's also getting old. I would much rather have Randel El...he does a lot more, Special Teams, Offense, and he can throw the ball.

I hope the Bills dangle Eric Moulds out there for trade bait, we would have a shot at landing him for a good price.

Actually I would be thrilled if we got Jurevicus.

The guy works hard, has solid hands, and I think he could go over 50 catches if he's put in the right spot (like our #2)

And Unfortunately, based on last nights game, I don't think we'll be signing Randle El. He's way too valuable to Pittsburg, or some other team way under the salary cap will give him a big contract.

No point in trading for him. He'll probably be cut.

I want Randle-El but Jurevicus wouldn't be a bad signing, either, IMO.

Jurevicius is an okay reciever, but he has to slow up quite a bit to make his cuts and his tecnique is lacking... He's also had trouble staying healthy.

Maybe he's the kind of guy that Saunders could make the most out of, but I don't think he's an ideal fit.

Still, a rotation of Patten and Jurevicius could be pretty good

Agreed. Obviously there could be a better combo than those two but maybe JJ could be a bargain for us like he was for Seattle this year.

Why would they cut him before trying to trade him? His contract is not up. They wouldn't benefit at all by releasing him.

Teams will probably assume he will be cut in the first place and not try to trade for him. I think he will be a salary cap casualty.

i dont think we need a player who will change the game for us, we already have santana. I just think that we need someone who will catch some balls and not drop half the stuff thrown to him (taylor Jacobs). Jurevicius makes a good posession reciever.

I would also love to get moulds though

We need someone who commands attention. Commanding attention is a playmaker. A playmaker doesn't = billion dollar contract either. We need someone who has to be paid attention.

What makes good teams good is depth. We have no depth at WR to speak of. When Patton went down our air game suffered because of the added attention on Moss. We need a legit #2 that can step up to #1. What would happen if we got a good posession receiver if Moss became injured? They'd double up on the posession receiver. We need quality depth.

Same thing for the OL. Our run game suffered when our pulling guard Thomas went down. We need quality depth there too.

I was thinking about it last night and I can't think of another player who has gone to three superbowls with three different teams. Is there anyone else?

I wouldn't mind picking up JJ because we do need depth, but he certainly isn't a long term answer.

We have already a few WRs that aren't "long term answers". Why get another one?

People are so impressionable about a player they just SAW instead of having a BROADER vision to consider the ones not put in front of them like carrots.

Good thread. I like Jurevicius alot. Seems like he would fit in well on a Joe Gibbs team. Check out his stats for this year. He had to be Seattle's leading receiver this year, wasn't he?

I like Jurevicius as well. However, I don't think he's quite what we need. I knwo may say that we don't need a Reggie Wayne type, but I ask you, whay happens if Moss gets hurt next year? Patten is our number one? Jurevicius? Thrash (yikes!)? Jacobs (double yikes!)? We need a number two is an almost number one. I admire the way Jurevicius plays the game, but I don't think he's enough.

What about Jurevicius

He was cut by the Bucs the other day. He'd be a nice big target for Ramsey. I'm just posting this if we get rid of Rod, Coles, and D'Mac and start fresh. I think he'd be a good fit in the system, possibly use him as a backup H back to cooley. Just throwing the name out there

....

posted this last year, didn't get a good reply then either. A shame tho, his teams always go to the playoffs...coulda been us this year. Oh well, he's a great third or fourth receiver, he's big and can get us possesion receptions. He doesn't drop a lot of passes and is big enough to block well also. I say he'd be a good pickup

First of all id like to say hello to all the fellow Skins fans. I jus joined this forum so...

But neway, Jurevicius would add depth but i dont think he's the guy we're looking for at #2. If we could get him at #3 or #4 and still get a great reciever to compliment Moss, we'd have a great recieving group in Moss, #2(Randel El),Patten,Jurevicius,Thrash but he(Jurevicius) would not be a second reciever who can play at the top if Speedy Santana gets injured. Randel El in the other hand would be a great addition seeing that he can play practically any position on offense.
Nothing's more exciting than a life of a Redskin fan. haha yuuup.
