I believe Nemo takes Betts spot if he doesnt return next year. Nemo is big, powerful, and quick...would love to see him running the ball. The Hogster wrote:USAFSkinFan wrote:I don't respect a thing about Ricky Williams... he came back for the money and that's it, to avoid repaying the 8 mil he owed... Okay, so if we loose Ladell Betts to another team and Poris is injured at some point (which is highly likely) then who in the heck becomes our every down back???
Someone answer that question before we get lectured on who has character.
Again I am not advocating the Ricky thing, but people on here are riding a high moral horse all of a sudden when our starting safety is facing a felony.
If Gibbs thinks it's okay..it probably is.Before we ride the Morality Horse off into the sunset, we should educate ourselves on the Redskins and Joe Gibbs check this out: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01678.html

If we lose Betts (and it sounds like Gibbs doesn't want that) then we'll look for a back-up running back... and I don't care what you say, call it a high morale horse if you like, but it won't be Ganja Williams...
Sean Taylor is family right now as far as the Redskins are concerned, whatever he did, he did as a Redskin and the team is pulling for him to get through it...

I'm so sick of hearing that Washington is interested in this or that player T.O. Ricky or Reggie!! Who aren't we interested in?? This is agents leaking stories to drive interest for their clients. DS has historically piad big$$$ in the past off-seasons. What they need to realize is that's its not DS but JG deciding who we go after now. Didn't they learn from last off-season??

Yeah if you owed 8 million dollars to some football team, I'm sure you'd stick to your principles and pay it off working at taco bell or something.
Seriously, people act like Ricky Williams is such a bad guy. Every interview I've seen with him he just seems like a nice, mellow, humble person who is just different from the typical football player. If he wanted to take a year off to smoke weed and study buddhism then good for him. I would take him in our backfield in a second if he is up for playing.

You have to stay a step ahead. Again, I am not a Ricky supporter, but RB is not a need right now, but when you look at the contracts a good backup RB is a need because Ladell is coming up on free agency and we will definitely not be able to afford him.
Lamont Jordan landed 27.5 million in FA after serving a similar role as betts. Betts will not get that from the Skins.

Okay I get your logic

Again, I am NOT advocating for Ricky, but lets not be hypocrites. This is football and it is played by humans.
Do I want Ricky....heck no...but if he came here...I would have no problem with it. Problem is I don't think it will happen because we can't have 2 RB's that are that darn weird. Between Portis dressing up and Ricky's Wolfman Beard...I just can't see it.
Oh, and it doesn't matter if Gibbs wants to lose Betts or not, but reality is when he becomes a free agent, we are at the mercy of his decision...take big bucks to go somewhere else and START, or take what we can afford to pay him as a backup? What would you do?
SPIT HAPPENS!!

I wouldn't have walked out on my team to begin with... wouldn't have gone over big in Kuwait...
Hey, I fully support Ricky's right to find himself, I'm just glad he's not a Redskin, and in my opinion, it ain't gonna happen...

The dude QUIT his team! The dude QUIT his team! The dude QUIT his team! The dude QUIT his team! The dude QUIT his team! The dude QUIT his team!
Newsflash!!!!!
So did John Riggins. This is exactly the same kind of reclaimation project. The only difference is, he is already back, and is with another team.
That's not to say I would support this... I think the guy is a complete jerk, and prefer to see him in teal, white and orange. I think my point is just that if there is any coach who could pull this off, and make it work, it is Joe Gibbs

I have been a Texas Longhorns fan for many years now, as well as a Redskins fan for my entire life, all 23 years that is. I have watched Ricky since he was a freshman in college, and have followed him throughout his career. He had been diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder or something of the sort, and doctors said it was quite common for those people to find marijuana as a common and easy cure to their anxiety. Was it right to do it, no, but at points he had said he felt like it was his only escape. Granted, he "quit" on his team, and people say he came back b/c he didn't want to owe the money. And you can say that is true, but he came back and scored 6 TD's, averaged 4.4 yards/carry, carried 168 times, and only fumbled once, and that was on a team that had no real threat at WR. So again, you can say he came back for the $$$, but he also played his butt off, and gave 110%. If he came back just so he wouldn't have to owe the $$$, then he could have played and practiced terrible, and not given a damn, sat on the bench & gotten paid. But he went out there everyday, worked hard, got back into game shape, and had a pretty good year only playing 12 games as a back-up.
In ending, I would be for signing him in a heartbeat, I think he would be a great fit with Gibbs, and a great compliment to CP, and would lead to easily having the best backfield in the NFL, even better than Atlanta. Having Williams as a back-up would allow CP to stay fresher in games and allow him more breathers. If the price is right, we would have to take him I think...

My children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breaths to defend it!

Well, I suspect that "crawl" refers to the horizontally scrolling (crawling) banner at the bottom of the screen that all the news and sports networks use.
And, about the rumor... I certainly hope you're right.

Yeah... pretty sure some bored producer overheard some obscure whispers, and thought he'd stir the pot.
I imagine that Gibbs would be facinated by Williams ability to move a pile, but he also knows that Williams has no soul.
No soul. Can't wear burgundy and gold with no soul. You can wear white and teal with no soul. You can definitely wear white, silver and blue with 5-pointed blue stars on your helmet with no soul. But not burgundy and gold. It would cause a fissure in the space-time continuum. Bad ju-ju.

Boy!!! How we suffer during the off season. We can always tell when it's time, EVERYBODY in the l;eague is invited in.

Yep, that's what crawl is. Anyway, as has been said here before...agents use Snyder's old reputation as a stargazer with mucho dinero in an effort to drive up a FA's price. Not sure what RW's contract status is, but it seems likely.
Rickey needs to stay right where he is. He belongs down there where everybody knows how he is. He's their headache.
My view would be changed dramatically if he'd been back and clean for more than one season, and had come back to close to his usual playing weight.
Wouldn't it be funny if he did come here though, after Ditka gave up all that to move up and get him ?
