What the heck?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

What the heck?

Post by Skeletor »

Not unlike that Patriots team from the franchise's pre-Bill Belichick era, the Seahawks showed up at Super Bowl XL wondering why the nation is so reluctant to embrace them.

"No one wants to give us credit," wide receiver Darrell Jackson lamented Sunday night. "I don't really think anyone wants to see us here. Maybe it's because we're not a big metropolitan media area, but for us to have the second-best record in the NFL and still be labeled the underdog for this game is kind of ridiculous.

"That is how the whole season has been," said Jackson, the team's designated yell leader for the "We're Not Chopped Liver" campaign. "The same things were said when the Washington Redskins came in to play us, as well as the Carolina Panthers. We didn't have a chance."

What the heck is Jackson talking about? Everybody picked the Seahawks to win agains the Skins. This guy is just plain delusional...

This is about on par with Brady claiming that the Patriots were being disrespected early in the playoffs this year. Stupid, I know, but it worked for that team (er, at least, for a week, anyways. . .). Jackson is trying to fire up his team and create that "world is against us" attitude that helps people keep focused and on task to prove everyone wrong.

The Patriots used this tactic brilliantly to win the Superbowl against the Rams--remember how they introduced themselves as a team rather than as individual players? The media, seeing a great story at work, really played up the "longshot versus the high-powered Rams" angle.

I don't think that this is going to work. The Steelers might be favored but they are still a 6th seed and were a long shot to even make the playoffs. Add some of the emotional weight of winning one for Bettis and finally getting Cowher a trophy, and I think the Steelers will have equal incentive for winning to match the "everyone's disrespectin' us!" mentality.

Then Darrell Jackson can go home and cry into his thousand dollar pillow in his million dollar home, and all will be right with the world. . .

Jackson should pretend this claim is a football and drop it.

Age old psychology. "Everybody hates us, nobody rates us, it's us against the world". It works some of the time, but hopefully the Steelers will knock the 'hawks all over the park on Sunday.

Actually, both these Super Bowl teams are acting like babies.

Well not so much the Steelers, but come on, I mean this "Win it for Jerome" stuff is getting old. Sure do I want the Steelers to win and Bettis to ride off into the Sunset? Yes. But this is getting ridiculous, I mean the whole team wearing #6 Notre Dame jerseys on the flight to Detroit???

I think if Pittsburg keeps up that wimpy "Win it for Jerome" attitude, they could end up losing it.

However, the Seahawks are even dumber. I mean, SHUT UP about "Nobody thinks we can win" crap.

I just wish they would play the game already. I mean, the two week layoff is too much.

I mean what's the fun if the two teams are being babies about it, I'm still waiting for Joey Porter to call out the Seahawks and get some smack talk going, that's what I want to see.
