Daryl Tapp

Post by ChiefPowhatan17 »

Daryl Tapp is a solid DE from Virginia Tech. Who has the hardcore blue collar work ethic that Gregg Williams is looking for. He will be available with our first pick at #53.

Yes Tapp is good, but he's little.

I think he's only like 6-1 260lbs. I think he'll be like a David Pollack kind of guy who can line up on the D-Line or in as a LB.

I wouldn't take him with our first pick, but if he's available later (4th roundish) I'd be happy to snag him.

He's not that small. I would love to have him if he's available but at this point I think he'll go before.

who cares about how big the guy is, just as long as the kid can play. My 2 cents

Look at how big Darrell Green was... he could play.

YOu are not the most optimistic fan out there, Are ya?

So, let me put it to you differently. What if we wish real hard for -other- 52 players. And we pray and we pray that we might get -any- of them. By your logic, we would not get any.

But we would get HIM, Right?

Hes not too small, He had a great week at the Senior Bowl practices vs D'brickshaw (sp?) Ferguson.

Hes good, I hope he would fall to our 2nd round pick.

Tapp's 6'1/265. There certainly are some good light DEs out there (Kearse 265, Rice 268, Abraham 258, and Freeney 268), but Freeney is the only one that is as short as 6'1. The rest are around 6'4. The average DE in the league comes in at 6'3/277. That doesn't mean Tapp can't be successful, but he's certainly not in the mold that DCs currently employ. He could be the second coming of Freeney, but that's a long shot.

http://www.lowdownskinny.com/Draft/10ThingsSrBowl.htm

"5. Dumervil and Tapp are great assets, but I still can’t figure out where to place them. A 3-4 is where they need to be, but neither is a world-beater against the run. Besides, only 8 teams use a 3-4. San Fran, Houston, Cleveland, New England, and Dallas would all be good fits for them, but how do their OLB needs balance with other draft needs? The best career scenarios would likely be for Dumervil to go to the Pats and Tapp to go to Dallas. The best short-term dollar situation might be to go elsewhere. Where these two great talents fit is a real question mark."

he increased his stock significantly in the senior bowl against ferg and will probably not drop all the way to the 53rd pick ...my two cents

I really hope we get reggie bush...
