Most Improved Player...

Post by JCaptMorgan12 »

I know a few days ago there was a post about Dockery, and some were saying that he needed to go, while others felt different, and that feeling isn't just felt on this board, that is that Dockery is a good player. Here is a pretty good article about Dockery's season this year...

I wonder how they can say that Dockery was more improved than Brunell ?

I agree Terri, Ade played well this year. Even when he was playing DB.

Dockery improved but he was farrrrr from the most improved.

Sellers, Ade and Brunell before him.

So the key to being 'Most Improved' is to be great for many years, then suck for one season, then come back and have a very good season? I think the point of the 'award' is to recognize a younger player who hasn't yet shone (shined?) in the league yet, not someone who is coming back from a lousy season.

Brunell is the obvious vote but Sellers gets mine.

Sellers as we all know, basically went from a special teams player in 04 to a regular fixture in our "O" in 05.

He had 12 receptions, 9 resulting in 1st downs, 7 for TDs and blocked his butt off for Portis & Company.
As always he played tremendous on special teams and gets everyone fired up!

Just my My 2 cents

I say Moss. 1st time probowler and a breakout season, he pretty much more then doubled his normal production in catches and yards, has to be the most improved in my book.

I also say Moss, he was the most improved and our MVP. The nice thing is that several guys have made big improvements.

Actually Brunell sucked for many seasons.
Moss was an "underachiever" for many seasons.
Sellers was in another league for a while and didn't do too well in his 1st season here.

Brunell could hit the broad side of a Barn last year.

He gets my vote by far. Now it is time to shut him down.

I would like to throw a bone out there for Marshall. He swapped positions and seemingly got better...not that he was bad before. It's been almost a transparent switch since Pierce's departure...plus what we got with the money we would've spent to keep him.

I think the thought may be that Brunell is the 9th rated passer in history, so last year was a fluke, whereas Dock was not only not helped by Kim Helton, but actually hurt technique-wise. Buges has really worked with the bg fella, and he went from one of the worst guards in the league to a slightly above average guard, with much more room to improve.

Hey RSC. Long-time, no talk.

I agree that Brunell is vastly improved from last year, but it was mainly do to healing from an injury, where as other players, like Dockery, actually improved technique-wise.

I guess it all depends on your definition of improvement.

Most improved ... Gibbs. When comparing the 04 and 05 teams, the team is light years improved in terms of character, cohesiveness, potential, and outlook.

Althought he is not a 'player' it all starts with the head coach. He gets my vote!

I think you might be right, Gibbs. But, I don't understand why nobody alse thinks it is Moss. The guy's numbers were way way above his NFL career average across the board and going to the pro-bowl. That has to be most improved. Brunell and Doc both improved, no dought about it. But Moss's numbers were a big increase from his Jets era.

I think, although I don't want to speak for everyone, that he's not the most improved Redskin, because he wasn't a Redskin last year. Its hard to compare him to Moss the Jet, because he is used much differntly here.

He is one of the most improved players in the league, statistically speaking.

Jimoh turned out to be a special teams ace. Boy was I wrong about him.

Brunell was very improved as well but that has a lot to do with the fact that he was terrible last season.

We forgot someone real important

Post by dlc »

How about Clinton Portis? This year he wasn't running in the backs of his lineman, into having the best rushing season for any Skins running back. As far as offensive MVP, even in front of Santana Moss, defenses were trying to stop him. I don't ever recall Brunell being the hot topic on a defensive coordinator's mind since coming to the Skins. Gibbs will be the first person to admit that the passing game piggybacks off the running game.

As for Dock, the article summed up what I've seen all season. The only place I've heard rumors of upgrading lineman are here. Getting some depth would be good, but candidates for such positions are usually not well-known draft picks or under the radar FA pickups. We need to address other issues. We can win with the line that we have.

Everyone has their own opinon on who is most improved, but I thought about it and EVERYONE is on the most improved list, the entire team. We went from 6-10 to 10-6 and we came very very near to winning 2-3 more games, we could of been 12-4. So on that note the Skins are the most improved team.

Your right! I thought about it too, right down the the last player. Even Frost improved...he improved his potential to get kick off this team week after week! Amazing and here I thought he wasn't trying
