A little belated but...

Post by NorthernRaider »

Congrats on landing Saunders... he's one of the best, if not the best, OC's out there! I for one am glad that we don't play you guys anytime soon...

I didn't want to see him be our HC but I was hoping possibly as our OC but we need a coach... an offensive minded one at that.

I'm pulling for Whisenhunt for our new HC... but enough about that... don't mean to fill this post with raider talk!!

Hey Boss... cheers!! -drinking :D :D

rest assured friend, your team can only improve after norv turner. we knew him all too well. :puke:

i wonder if you guys have had much discussion about potentially picking up patrick ramsey? i think he could be a good QB for you. and what about mike martz as head coach? seems like exactly the kind of aggressive offensive coach al davis likes... and who knows what he could do with randy moss and porter, lamont jordan, etc. what's the scoop in raidertown?

Mike Martz will never happen. Al Davis likes coaches he can work with easily, and Mike Martz was let go moreso because of his relationship with the front office than anything else.

Sorry about Norv Turner! I really thought at the beginning of the year that the Raiders looked LOADED. Jordan, Moss, Porter and a decent QB in Collins. Leave it to Norv Turner to grossly underachieve with that bunch.

Yeah, I know you guys lived through the Norv regime... at least those days are behind us now & we only had to endure two seasons with him.

There's been talk about Ramsey in Raidernation but it would all depend on what the trade would cost us & we have other pressing needs other than QB... that would change if we don't keep Collins but... I'll give you a 5th rounder for him

Martz was/is an option but AL is not sure about his health... he might not be able to handle the vigors of that position. Now, if we could convince him to be our OC, that would be good!

All the talk these days is about Whisenhunt coming to town. After seeing what he has done so far in the playoffs, I'm all for it. He had a great gameplan for Denver & I would love nothing better than to start beating those maggots again!!

Heh, thanks but again, at least it's over... whew!!

We have the talent on the O side of the ball but we lack some leadership & discipline. Norv definitely underachieced but IMO, so did Collins... he has ZERO leadership qualities!!

Funny. You could have said the exact same thing about the skins for about six straight years. Say from 1994 to 2000? :) I predict an improvement in discipline next year. No matter who your coach is and assuming he is not named Spurrier.

Why don't the Raiders bring back Art Shell? Now THAT guy looked like a Raiders coach. One of my favorite coaches this side of Joe Gibbs.

I hope your crystal ball is accurate cause we sure need an improvment on that front!

Spurrier!! LOL - thanks for the laugh... I just spewed coffee all over my keyboard!

I would love to see that happen but I can't see it coming to fruition. Big Al has stated that firing him (even with a winning record) was a big mistake. I think Shell is enjoying his current position & with his health not being that great (diabetic) he's not ready to jump back into the world of a HC. Besides, he's probably waiting for Tagliaboob to retire so he can be the next commish!! :D

I wonder if Jim Fassel would like to come back to the HC ranks with Oakland...considering he's somewhat familiar with the QB already.
