Senior Bowl

Post by portis26 »

The Senior Bowl is this week in Mobile, Alabama. Most of the top senior prospects are there this week to show there talents to NFL scouts and coaches. This is a very important event for NFL teams and the prospects. In fact, last year all 6 selections by the Redskins played in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. This group included Carlos Rogers, Jason Campbell, Manuel White, Robert McCune, Jared Newberry, and Nemo Broughton. In 2004, Chris Cooley played in the Senior Bowl.

If you love the NFL draft and want to watch the action at the Senior Bowl live the NFL Network is covering it from 4-5:30 this afternoon. Also, there is a recap show at 8:30 p.m. Most of the stuff you will see during the week is practices and drills.

Today was the North team practice coached by the Tennessee Titans coaching staff, including Head Coach Jeff Fisher and Offensive Coordinator Norm Chow. Here is a link to the rosters: http://www.seniorbowl.com/2006/rosters.htm

Some tidbits on what I saw today on the NFL Network:

- D'Brickashaw Ferguson dominated Mathias Kiwanuka on back to back snaps
- Tamba Hali looked extremely explosive coming off the edge
- Darryl Tapp was very good against the run
- Jonathan Lewis went right through Davin Joseph on back to back plays using a bull rush
- Ryan O'Callaghan is huge and did well in pass protection
- Dominique Byrd looked slow
- Joe Klopfenstein was average
- Demetrius Williams made a couple of nice catches
- Maurice Stovall was faster than I thought, but needs to work on his hands
- Derek Hagan looked average
- Jason Avant has good hands, but couldn't get seperation deep on Anwar Phillips
- Martin Nance was invisible out there
- Tye Hill was extremely fast and made a tremedous pick
- Will Blackmon looked rusty at CB
- Jahmile Addae was solid
- Jay Cutler has GREAT arm strength and really stood out from the other QB's, this guy should be a top ten pick
- Michael Robinson chose to play QB this week and really struggled with accuracy
- Charlie Whitehurst might never be more than a back-up
- Jerome Harrison showed some real quickness
- Mike Bell was average
- Cedric Humes showed he could catch the ball out of the backfield
- Terrence Whitehead was nothing special
- Lawrence Vickers showed some running ability
- Chad Greenway did well in pass coverage
- D'Qwell Jackson is a superb athlete
- Abdul Hodge also did well in coverage
