'Skins sign Jesse Lumsden

Post by Malicious »

Good ol' Canadian boy gets two year contract. Let's see if he can stick around. He's a bruiser, 6-2 220.

In his final college season, he had quite the campaign..
178 for 1816, a 10.2 average and 21 scores.

Not exactly sure where he would fit in with the team, but we'll have to see.

Do you have a link to this info? If this is true, that's great for Jessie!

Found it! Good news for Jesse, I think he only has an upside and has lots of room to grow.

Just filling the facility with bodies and competition...dude probably wont make it out of camp, but I like stories like this. Guys like Mike Sellers are so important to a winning team.

I'd like to see him make it, but doubt it...unless he takes Manuel White's spot.

Your right he'll be in for some stiff competition! It would be huge if he made it, he has the size & the tools but he just might be to far behind the learning curve. It's tough enough to make the jump from NCAA ball, but even tougher coming from a Canadian University.

Jesse played in Hamilton, about 10 mins from my house, and I'll tell you this kid is fast, he will make a cheap kick returner, did some of that in Hamilton. This was a good signing.

I wonder if that means that we don't intend to sign Rock or if we are possibly going to trade Ladell Betts.

I don't think so...we will go into camp with nearly 100 guys...most of them will be cut. Maybe he will, but I would think that Nemo would replace rock rather than this dude.

The kid's got a lot of heart and talent... who knows if it will be enough to crack the roster.

Great athlete though, and it will be nice to talk to a fellow Canadian at camp.

You'll have two of them, Boss. Kerry Carter, included. That's two more than last year, ain't it?

Both were teammates in Seattle during camp last year.

Canadian? Who said that?

Go kid! This young man will put his heart into it. The Marauders were a good College team when he was there. He will compete hard and that will put A LOT of pressure on others to perform if anything.

That's what I'm thinking. I doubt he has a real shot at RB, but does seem to have the attributes to be a solid return guy.... and remember, Mike Nelms came out of the CFL...

And, the article you posted spoke about a Jonta Woodward being signed by the Skins, too. (...unless that was last year.) :

Hamilton has lost four players to the NFL this year: Offensive lineman Jonta Woodard

Louis Riddick Complimented Jesse

Post by GibbsLombardi »

In the Redskins.Com interview on 4/4/06, personel specialists Louis Riddick praised Jesse Lumsden as a great pick up. I haven't heard much about him other than Canadians saying good things, but this could a come from no where great player!
