FREE Preseason Video: Jason Campbell
This is from the preseason game vs. the Ravens. Its one play, 3rd and long and Jason is in shotgun. He steps right on the designated rollout and throws a perfect 37 yard TD pass to Jimmy Farris.

That's a perfect throw, but I saw 2 flaws
1) He seemed as if he was just staring Farris down the whole time. While that may work against a 3rd String defense, it won't work against a 1st string defense.
2) I know I'm no expert, but for some reason his wind up caught my eye. After watching it a few times, it actually does look like he has a long delivery (which is what the scouts all said) Now I know that can be fixed, but if he is in a tight pocket, that could be a fumble waiting to happen.

well
Speaking of his mechanics, it was a designed roll-out play to give him space, plus it was a deeper throw so a bigger wind-up was probably necessary.
What we need to see is how he throws in the pocket with like 10-15 yard passes that require a quicker release.

Admittedly, that has been one of my concerns since day one. However, judging by the video, the man is a GIANT, and we won't have to worry about having pesky lineman trying to bring him down.

Seriously, look closely; in the video, he looks twice as tall as his own linemen. WOW!!!

BTW - Yes, he was eyeing Farris the entire way. Rookie mistake. He will improve.
Back and better than ever!

Well, that video really is not the best example of his throwing mechanics because in one motion he pump-fakes and then throws. Obviously his wind-up is going to look very long because of this. His wind-up is a little longer than normal but watch the video at this link and you can see he has a quick release on short to intermediate passes:

BTW, someone on this site found that vid but I couldn't find the thread so I don't know who to give the credit to.

No, if you look closelt you can see that there are 3 players running routes on the right side, and right before he throws it to Farris he looks off
