The weather makes both teams more one-dimensional...and evens it out a little more. Seattle is surprising good since the last game at stopping the run. It's hard for me to believe that an NFC East team can be affected by weather of any kind, and even harder for me to believe that a Seattle team won't be able to handle rain.
It's going to be a tighter game than most of the people I see posting and picking are predicting. As usual, the better defense will win...we'll have to wait and see who that is. The week off has closed the gap.

Hey guys, just a Seattle fan stopping by to say hi. I tried the ESPN message boards but it was just a bunch of trolls spewing garbage back and forth at each other. It's nice to find a place where people are somewhat objectively talking about the game.

I did have to take exception with the above quote saying that if it were a blowout it will be in Washington's favor. I do not see any way possible that this game is a blowout for the Redskins. If you could explain your rationale behind this it would be greatly appreciated.

The Redskins usually always play close games. We got blown out only once this season, by the Giants, and we repaid the favor. During this streak we finally managed to put a lot of points up on the board, something we could not do against good teams early in the season. It's rare for a Gibbs-coached team to get blown out, especially in the playoffs. Even if I thought the Seahawks would win, if I were to bet, I would take the 9-10 points they are giving the Redskins.

I did have a couple things I hope you guys could answer. First, who is you 2nd receiver this week. I heard Thrash is injured and I saw Taylor Jacobs playing last week against Tampa. In your opinion, who poses the biggest threat? I tend to think that Cooley (behind Moss) could cause problems for us more than any of the guys currently in position for the 2nd WR.

Do we have a second WR? Maybe that will be our secret weapon. Seriously, you guys need pay no attention to our second WR. Tampa played a deep safety on Moss and loaded the box the rest, but still our second WR was a non-factor.

Next, I wanted to see what you all thought of Shawn Springs. He was our 1st round pick a while back and had a decent run in Seattle but was plagued with injuries near the end of his stay. How has he been healthwise and what has his performance been like on the field? He used to be in a lot of commericals up here and was one of the figureheads for the team so it will be fun to see him come back.

He's injured again, but has managed to play with pain this season and still be effective. He is our No.1 CB, but even without him and without our No.1 safety last week, Tampa could not throw on us.

It will be fun to watch the game in the trenches on both sides of the ball as this is where many of the games are won. I'm real interested to see how Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson deal with Cornelius Griffin and Philip Daniels (another ex-Hawk). I know injuries have taken their toll on your line but obviously not too much b/c Portis has had another real solid year. Hopefully he is full-go this weekend as I would like both teams to have everyone as healthy as possible.

Although we have lost a key guy on our OL and a key guy on our DL, their backups have played well.

I look forward to hearing your responses. Even more, I look forward to the game starting - I'm sick and tired of hearing people talk about respect, injuries, schedules, past playoff records, etc. Having played college football (actually played against Moss and Portis when they were at Miami) none of the stuff means jack to the players when they get out on the field.

Peace~

Actually, I think we'd prefer to have a couple of extra days to prepare. :)

The field will be wet with 100% chance of rain on Friday!

There is a 70% of rain on Saturday. High 8°C or 46°F.

Mine was an extra $10 per month, 100% worthwhile

Best post by a She-hawks fan that I have seen. Chris Cooley is our #2 receiver, but he only occasionally lines up at the wide-out spot (usually for a WR screen). Shawn Springs has been our best CB for the past two seasons, and only missed the last game because of a groin pull. He will play Saturday, but will not be 100%. If Sean Taylor can keep his head in the game, I think he will have a big day. My biggest concern is Mark Brunell. Since his injury in the Giants game, he has not shown much. If his knee feels good Saturday, he could post big numbers, but if he plays like he has the past two weeks, we could be in for a long day, needing the defense to bail us out again.

I am so pissed that I'm going to miss this game, it's going to be a good one. I'll try to record it.

They know we're a good team but refuse to admit it. Theres no way we've gotten this far on luck. Luck doesn't get you a six game winning streak against Dallas, Giants, Bucs and soon to be Seahawks.

However, it will get you a large winning streak against the likes of St. Louis twice, S.F twice, Houston, etc. (See. SEA. Schedule)

I never said I thought it would be a blowout, I think it will be a very close game. I was taking exception to the idea that some Seahawks fans had that it would be a blowout in Seattle's favor.

This Redskins team doesn't get blown out. It has only occured once in the last two years and last year we weren't very good. Additionally, the only game that occured in was the game after Wellington Mara died and his adopted grandson Tiki ran for 200+ against us. We still responded to that though by destroying the Giants the next time around. Hence, my argument that the 'Skins will not be blown out.

In addition, the 'Skins have won six games down the stretch all in a playoff-type atmosphere. Three of the last four were against teams trying to make it into the playoffs or to win a playoff game (Giants, Cowboys, Bucs) and each game was a playoff game for us at the very least. We blew out the Cowboys and the Giants in crucial games for them and beforehand nobody thought we could do that, even those who picked us to win. Those teams just couldn't handle the intensity we played those games with and they got destroyed as a result. Now I don't believe in momentum, especially in football where one play can change a game but I do believe in the intensity that a team can play with in the playoffs being of the utmost importance. I am not at all worried about the 'Skins in that respect, they are now a battle tested team that will show up on Saturday ready to play.

However, I do have my doubts in this aspect of the game when I look at Seattle. As an analogy, I see the Seahawks as a gifted child who has never been teasted this year and the 'Skins as a team that has streetsmarts and knows how to survive. Sure, the gifted kid may have more skills and be smarter but when it comes to crunch time you have no idea how he is going to react while you know exactly what you're getting from the Redskins.

All, I'm saying is I expect the game to be very close but Seattle has to be very careful. If they come out and they aren't ready to get punched in the mouth the game could get ugly. This is no fault of the Seahawks but rather it is a result of the fact that they had to play so many cupcakes. Let's see how they respond to a team that hits harder than any other team they've faced on both sides of the ball. If they can come in matching our intensity they will probably win because of their overall talent level and the fact they are playing at home. I see it being a very close game and Seattle should be the favorite but I am still convinced that despite that, IF the game blowout it will be in the Redskins favor for all the above reasons. We are battle tested, we play with great physicality and intensity, and we just don't get blown out. You can count on this team showing up to play no matter what.

Also, far too much has been made of us only gaining 120 yds against Tampa. Remember, the three previous weeks our offense put up 101 points against our three division rivals, two of which were fighting for their playoff lives. Earlier in the season we put up 35 against Tampa, the #1 rated D in the league. In the last six games of the season we ran for more yards than any other team in the NFL - more than Seattle, more than Denver, more than the Giants (even though Tiki had two 200+ yd games over that stretch of the season), and even more than KC even though LJ had six 100 yd games and a 200 yd game!!! In the game last week we ran the ball more than twice as much than we threw it and Portis barely played. We had a big lead and Gibbs didn't want to give Tampa's D to win the game with a turnover or two. If anyone things this offense is below average they are very wrong. Over the season it was ranked eleventh and it is extremely opportunistic.
