The Stats That Matter Most

Post by GibbsLombardi »

117-139 (Seattle Opponent's Records)
***Includes 14 wins in meaningless Indi game***
132-124 (Washington Opponent's Records)

0 - # of playoff wins by Holmgren with Seattle
17- # of playoff wins by Gibbs with Washington

0 - # of playoff wins by Seattle since 1984
2 - # of SUPERBOWL wins by the Skins since 84

0 - # of times both AFC and NFC favs advanced since 93
0 - # of times Hasselbeck has won a playoff game
3 - # of different QBs & RBs to win Superbowls with Gibbs

3 - # of points Skins already beat Seahawks by this year!

The only covering the Seahawks will do this weekend is their eyes to hide their crying!

Seattle's strength of schedule was terrible, they only faced 4 playoff teams, losing to Jacksonville and Washington, beating the Giants in Seattle by 3, and beating the Colts in Seattle the week after San Diego ended their perfect season and while Dungy was away from the team.

They've also lost 6 playoff games in a row and Holmgren has never beaten Washington.

...most importantly to me, Dallas went to Seattle and was up 10-3 in the 4th before choking it away 13-10, anything Dallas can do we can do better.

Good teams win games they are meant to win and this Seattle team did win 13! That means they are in the playoffs! The issue I have is that the schedule should indicate that they may not be as "good" as they are rated. Unfortunately the "line" is not set by people who know anything about football! It is set and controlled by bookies - this affects how a lot of people think but it is terribly mistaken in this case.
The past history also means squat and has nothing to do with this game. Both these coaches are good coaches - Gibbs will win because he has his players playing better on Sunday NOT because of anything that happened in the last 20 years, the last 20 games or even last week. That is the past - it means absolutely nothing. The past and stupid stats are for people who "follow" baseball. That's all that stupid sport has to offer!

Actually last week does mean something - The Redskins played terribly on offense and got a huge wake-up call for this week!

The Redskins will win this game because of how they play (and how Seattle plays) on Sunday, not because of anything else.

I am so excited and looking forward to seeing these Redskins players playing Redskins football in the playoffs.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Actually, the Stats that matter most to me are:

# of playoff wins this year
4

# of playoff losses this year
0

Everything else isn't worth talking about.

I would really like to see us do to Seattle what Carolina did to New York last Saturday. The NFL will be forced to scramble for Redskins season highlights once the media-darling teams (SEA, NY) are not in the run any longer.

it's tuesday, and i'm already tired of the 'strength of schedule' talk (as much as i agree with it). this is the playoffs. it will come down to who wants it more. if the 'hawks want it more than the skins, then no strength of schedule stat will help.

Thanks Joe! That's basically what I was getting to! All season long there have been this stat and that from last year and last week. These do not matter a whit when it gets right down to it! The guys on the field line up and go at it - he who wants it more gets the "W".
This BS about the ghost of some owner on the sideline is a bunch of BS - that is so typical the explanation by the media "Well the players were fired up for this ..."!

C'mon people - these are NFL players, they play for money, ain't no ghost helping anyone!

He who wants it the most, usually wins! GO SKINS!

I think we will see a very well prepared Seattle team trying to handle a team that is hell bent on destruction and mayhem and going on to next week! Now, if that happens - there is going to be a lot of scrambling at "media" HQ trying to explain the way this went down.

We have already achieved so much there is nothing left for us to do but get on to the Super Bowl!

This is bonus time - we have nothing to prove - these guys are playing to win - bring it on!

It's only Tuesday!

Our teams wants it more. SEA is riding the medias hype wagon but our team is in the cellar of respect. Springs said he listens to TV and he knows what they say about us. Im pretty sure the rest of the team does too. Gibbs has these boys fired up and they're playing for themselves. They're going to give this time a run for their money.
The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!
