The Skins are getting 10pts!
WOW! we are a MAJOR underdog Vegas opened the line and the Skins are getting 10 points. I thought it was going to be around 6-7 points but 10! I think the skins are really gonna win and imagine what the money line bet will pay prolly 6-1 I love it.

When do we "get" these points? Will they add this on at the end of the game or do they give it to the team as they enter the stadium? I mean, this will make a huge difference in planning for the game. We will have to adjust the blocking schemes for the kickers too!

The "line" is the amount of money the bookies "use" so that all the losers who bet on games will make an equal amount of bets on each team. The "line" means absolutely nothing to the players and coaches. It is for losers and is only important to losers.
Buffalo beat Cincy in Cincy this year and they were 14 point underdogs - big deal! This means absolutely nothing to any Redskins player or coach.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Remember, the line is more a reflection of those who make the bets than those who actually play the games.
correct, that means the entire world is betting on the seahawks heavy too, for a line to move 2 pts in a day means millions have been going seattle's way. All those loosers!, Vegas is gonna make out, aswell as myself because I'm putting a chunk of my winnings from The bucs game on the Skins again.

Very true! even on PTI they mentioned this spread was way to big! bet BIG on the skins the spread has droped to 9.5 allready and by game time I think it will fall to around 7ish. I personally like the money line bet that the skins will win the game, this will pay out HUGE! I also took the Skins -3 points and it pays out 15-1 WOW!

Wow. I just posted to another thread (Welcome Seahawks) where I had intended to suggest that the 'Hawks should be 10 point favorites.
And now, here it is, in truth, in reality, in living Las Vegas lines.
I wonder if the betting will hit 12 or 13 points by gametime. Oh, those poor Redskins. I don't suppose that Joe Gibbs will tack the predictions to the bulletin board. A little like January, 1983, when the oddsmakers picked the Cowboys over the Redskins by about a touchdown in the NFC chamionship game. Sports Illustrated explained that Bostic and Jacoby were just fat guys in football uniforms, George Starke was an antique, Mark May a dissapointment, and Russ Grimm might, in a few years, be a better than average guard.
No, he probably won't put the odds on the board, because his Redskin teams have always been known to fold under the least bit of pressure. No backbone, proven game after game.
Right?

SKINS VS SQUAWKS
9 points! Squawks favored by 9 points!?
once again the betting public has been blinded to the true strength of the "beast of the NFC (AKA seattle)" and continue to underestimate the skins. A look at the squawks schedule should provide some insight.
skins currently have had 5th toughest schedule in NFL, squawks 32nd (only 32 teams correct?). Throwing out squawks last 2 meaningless games (win over indy, loss to GB), leaves a 12 & 2 record featuring the following wins:
atlanta, arizona (2), st. louis (2), houston, star-girls, SF (2), gnats, uggs & tennessee
losses to skins & JAX.
squawks wins vs winning teams were by 3 points in each of 3 cases. Hardly dominating. One can see why their running back racked up such big numbers. Project skin's stats against same teams squawks faced and Moss gets over 2000 yds and Portis leads the league in rushing.
now that the blinders are off let's look at the game objectively.
Skins D vs squawks O - seannie was kept in check by gnats, girls & skins so expect to see that again. hackofaquarterback does bring more experience than sims or eli but a QB to fear? Once more the skins will contain the RB and force the QB to beat them. I did not see any squawks in top 30 receivers but Joe-J did have 10 TDs. Do we even need sean taylor to cover these guys? squawks last playoff win came in 1984!
Skins O vs squawks D - look to the last star-girls and gnats games to see what skins O can do WHEN NEEDED. Ignore the uggs (brunell guts it out but obviously not 100%) & TB game (Gibbs goes conservative to protect the quick lead. Skins had two shots downfield but missed on both. Why risk more?) at best squawks D is mediocre. Skins may not need to pass the ball again if portis & betts can't be stopped. Watch for the Rock.
so what to expect? Skins go for a few quick scores on pass plays (effectively neutralizing seannie) and then watch squawks try to come back leaving joe-j, engram & stevens to win the game!? Puh-leez.
i think skins will win this one easier than most expect. win next week vs carolina will affirm their dominance in the NFC and tie Gibbs for 2nd all-time playoff wins. skinsrule!

I agree that Seattle is overated as far as the "line" is concerned but I grudgingly concede that the record is what it is and they did "win" 13! I guess I'm just a little peeved that we are not getting any respect for what we all have seen over the last 6 weeks. I will repeat - this season is not about how good teams are it has been a study in futility by a number of teams. There are a few good teams but there are an inordinate amount of bad ones.
Skinsrule is correct to point out that Alexander got his yards against some wimpy teams. They just managed to beat the giants and that team was a fraud all season long. I just loved seeing that defense not tackle last week. No wonder Barber got so many yards - just like Alexander did in many games - these RBs can get huge yards if nobody tackles them. They will see some tackling this week - mark my words.
I think that this game will be close but to predict that we are going to lose is insulting. Seattle is going to see a team playing some pretty good football this weekend in Seattle and I think we win because we are a better team. Not because we have better talent but we are a better team.

ok so when we beat a team by 3 its not dominating? We still won!! You beat us by 3 points how dominatin do you think that was? but your still won. WE won 11 in a row and got no recognition for it. dont start whimpering about your last 6's weeks. i give your credit though it is hard no matter who you play.

You mean "our line"? It took me a couple of minutes to realize that this was a case of 3rd grade phonetic spelling by someone with a weird accent.
Also, you have to capitalize the 'H' in "Hogs". Ordinary "hogs" are the kind of animals that my sister keeps on her farm. "The Hogs" were the Redskins offensive line from 1982 - 1992.
Aside from Ray Brown, The Hogs have all retired. Joe Bugel calls this offensive line "The Dirtbags". I don't know why. You can ask him if you see him.
Skinsjock are line is the best...your hogs are long gone.

Wow is right! I have just been saying how unimportant all that "ancient history" and "stats" stuff is.
Thanks welch! Maybe a lot of these fans (ours and theirs) don't remember those Redskins and the Hogs? I'll bet that Bugel will remind these guys about their heritage. That is very powerful stuff.
You Seahawks fans have a right to be proud of your offensive line - they have shown they are very good. They have the NFL's MVP in Alexander because they are a great line. Maybe it was against some "suspect" teams, but this week we have the opportunity for you to show us how good they really are. I am sure our guys are just really nervous about stopping the run game this Saturday.
I also think we might see Mr Portis wanting to stretch his legs just a little. Mr Samuels and Mr Jansen might have to do a little pancake mixing while "old" man Brown does some pullin'.
The Redskins are in the playoffs and we do remember our history. I don't blame you guys for being a little nervous - just keep listening to those odds makers - there's nothing to worry about!

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Well, can you blame them ? I mean, it's in Seattle. That's usually good for the field goal. They have the NFC MVP. They have the top-ranked QB in the conference. They are the #3 seed, and have been idle for two weeks.
That's good for 9. Sure it is.
Thing is, the game is played in Seattle, not Vegas. I'm not a betting man, and I'm not overly confident that we're coming away from this with a blow out win...but I just know 9 is too much. There's no spread for "heart".
