Joe Thiesmann
I understand he's an announcer, but if anybody ever sees him in DC or anywhere for that matter, remind him that he is a Redskin. better yet tell him to quit annoncing, I think my ears started bledding listening to him.

aww give Joe a break
He's already known as a homer, something that could kill his broadcasting career if it becomes too obvious. I believe he picked them to win their last five straight.
Anybody catch Steve Young in the post game show? He looked like he just ate a lemon. Like Dan Dierdorf, I think he never got over his dislike of the Redskins from his playing days.

You know what Boss, I ACTUALLY put the MUTE in my tv set. HDTV but no sound.
I could not take these morons any longer. They sounded as a gay orgy all of them wanting to get a crack at C. Simms.
Not that I think that they would not be really entitled to it if they wanted it. All of them are consenting adults after all.
The morons did not concentrate on the strategic matches being played by G. Williams and M. Kiffin. Poor Monte, the only time that -anybody- paid any real tribute to him was when the camera showed Joe telling him how good a job he had done at the end of the game.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
I know, Mike Patrick (the play by play guy) is the worst announcer I have ever heard.
First of all he doesn't even say what's happenening.
EX: Someone will have a huge Kick Return and the whole booth will be silent, then after the KR gets tackled he'll say in some stupid voice "And James Thrash with a MARVELOUS return!"
2) Did anyone catch after they threw the screen pass to Joey Galloway, Patick says, "That's the creative innovation Jon Gruden has. He knows how to get the ball to his playmakers [then he laughs like a moron unknowing that the screen pass is like our signature play to Santana]
I am sooooo happy that those guys won't be back.

There are plenty of guys who picked to do some damage in the playoffs. Steve young picked us to win the game Michael Irvin of course picked against us. Darren sharper also picked us to win. And as far as Joe Theisman man I got to agree it sounds like he is rooting for the other team.
Sean Taylor starting free safety Heavens team!

One thing I noticed was, if you take a look at the expert picks from ESPN.com, he's not supposed to pick a team from the game he's announcing. But, he did pick the Redskins to win. Theisman is a homer and I wouldn't have it any other way. But he does have a job to do and he is supposed to sound impartial. Does drive me crazy though. As is evident by my son asking me "Why are you telling the tv to shut up!" and "Why are you calling the tv, Joe?". He's young.
I figure... If life is all about the choices you make... Then I choose Redskin football, beer and hot wings!!

You have to consider the source. Remember, when he came out of Notre Dame, after changing the pronounciation of his name (Theisman for the Heisman)....
I was a ball boy for the Skins in Carlisle, back in the George Allen days. That punk was behind Sonny Jurgenson (God's gift to football), and Billy Kilmer and ALL he did was whine. From day one he wanted to be the starter, and bitched vocally, anywhere he could, about it. I'm REALLY surprised Kilmer or Jurgenson didn't take him out back and beat him into a puddle like substance.
Voted "father of the year" the same year he LEFT HIS FAMILY for that Crosby chick....tsk tsk tsk.
The guy's a moron who doesn't deserve the time or effort we are giving him.

Yes, Theisman did pick us to go to the super bowl before the season. So I think some need to ease up on a past Redskin who played in two and won one super bowl for us.
After every game, every play & every highlight, I'll always remember #21. RIP Sean.

One of the funniest rants in the history of the site.

Don't hold back.

Good stuff.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

PRO: Al Michaels is probably better at keeping the reins taught on him than Mike Patrick was.
CON: He won't have to fight Maguire to get himself heard.

Where are they "going"?

Joe is still with the "network" - he is just going to be making noise at ABC now - but I thought the others were still here? No?
I'm getting like Fios - CRS = cant remember "stuff" but with 4 letters!

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't hold myself out to be a Theismann expert by any stretch....nor do I care much for his commentating skills. However, I did attend a fundraiser for our local Ronald McDonald House recently (Dec '04) with Joe as the speaker. He did an excellent job and raised tons of money for a great cause. He spoke (what appeared to be) sincerely about his shortcomings in his personal life and his personality.
I enjoyed it a great deal. Particularly when he started giving the room full of Puke fans hell. He continuously dogged the Pukes and the University of Texas. I spoke to him at a party before the event about our matchup with the Pukes that weekend and enjoyed the conversation. He also signed numerous old Sport Illustrateds that I had saved from glory years past. He made himself very accessable to everyone at the party for conversation, pictures and autographs.
After the fundraiser he stuck around for as long as I was there taking pictures and signing autographs. I had taken my thehogs.net t-shirt and had him hold it up in front of him and took pictures.
Anyhow.....I had always felt the same as what appears to be the consensus here, but after that evening I have a better appreciation for Joe as a person.
I do agree that he does try and mask his bias with lopsided impartiality.
