We could not have asked for a better time for Lavar to show up. It seems like its been forever since he has made an impact play. Not only did his interception set the tone, but he led the team in tackles as well. As much that will be said for the Skins struggles offensively, let’s be clear in a game that was a tough defensive game, Gibbs and his staff cleared out coached Gruden.

Lavar showed up in a big way today that is for sure. He set the tone with his interception and the defense followed suit. If not for that INT we're still watching OT right now

Our defense played huge today. But I think Marcus Washingon had a better day, personally, but I can understand the LA love today.

All the announcers could do was talk about where he wouldn't be next year.
LA was in the right place at the right time.
Good on him.

Yep, and it really looked as if he really trully does want to be a Redskin for life.

I mean did you see him smiling after the game... that just made my day even better.

All he needs to do is buckle down and do his job, and he's one of the best we have.

Seriously - its situations like this that makes alot of the negativity from earlier this year (him not playing,etc...) go away and makes guys like Lavar want to come back.

I predict because of this, Lavar re-does his contract in order to stay as long as he can here.

I will congratulate him for the INT and his 9 tackles but that offisides penalty was horrible.

He jumped over the line and KEPT running towards the backfield. He didn't try to go back to the defensive side... he just kept running like Forrest Gump.

And the worst part is that he and Marcus were laughing about that. I did not find that funny in the least. It GAVE Tampa a first down on a 3rd and 5. That is not funny at all. Especially in a playoff game.

He was one of the top three defensive players today with Corny and Marcus. Give him a break!

Let me try to offer an explanation: When you make a BLUNDER so big, it is better to laugh about it. He had had such a BIG jump on the count that he would have looked silly trying to stop. You can only laugh when you say, I could have had you son of a... gun, but you caiught me instead with a hard count.

I am at peace with him. He played a hell of a great game.

On the other side, I take my hat off to Simeon Rice. Man, is he one of the most powerful defensive players or what?

We defeated a GREAT team and the BEST defense in the NFL today. It was close. How close? a single catch in the end zone. But we have had those go both ways ourselves. I am kool with this.

I agree that jump he had was pretty bad. What really got me was that Arrington stopped when he realized how bad it was. He should have kept going and knocked the crud out of Simms. He was already drawing a flag and giving up a first down. Might as well make Simms pay for his hard count. -drinking

That makes no sense. He would have looked smarter and more aware to go back and NOT give TB a first down.

Those things get on my nerves. We have to cut crap like that out on both sides of the ball and get serious for Seattle.

Poeple make mistakes. He was trying his best and bit on a hard count. It happens. We won, so it didn't matter.

No, you haven't.

For all the crap I've said about him about his play, I honestly didn't know what to expect from Lavar in the playoffs. When I saw the INT happen, I immediately thought it was Marcus, but I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, that Lavar came up big in his first taste of the post-season.

Admittedly, I was fuming over the offsides penalty, but, as a couple of you have said, I'm letting that one go on account of the win. Here's to Lavar and the rest of the defense making more plays on our way to the Super Bowl. -drinking

LaVar playing at that level is a nightmare for other teams, I'm very excited by what I saw from him. I was watching the game at a bar at Ceaser's in Atlantic City with a suprisingly knowledgable Eagles fan who commented he hadn't seen LaVar play like that in a few years.

He coulda been having a Penn State flashback.

I was talking about the Philly fan. But I can see how it could also be about LA's play.

I'll take it too. Beats the heck out of that picture of Alstott heading for the phantom 2-point conversion as LA dove past the play and is shown with his head on the ground and his feet in the air.
