This week, the Washington Redskins will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the first game of the 2005-2006 NFL playoffs. These two teams met up just a few months ago in a classic match-up that ended when Mike Alstott scored a two-point conversion to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Replays did not show that he got in fully, but there was not enough proof to overturn the call. Now that they meet in the playoffs, who will come out on top?
Im feeling a butt whopping. Ive been kinda anxiously awaiting this game, I have butterflies as usual but Im starting to feel kinda cocky about this game.
Basically, in the six games before the bye week, Tampa allowed only 62 rushing yards per game, but they did not face a 2005 playoff team. Over the next 10 weeks, they allowed an average of 113 rushing yards per game, which would be below average (would be around #18 ranked vs the run in that stretch)
They also allowed four 140+ yard games, and the two sub 100 yard rushing games were against the Saints.

I think Simms might be an alright QB some day but he still seems shakey too me, I think If our front 4 get some prssure this time, this will be a totally different game. An somebody besides the big 3 on offense needs to step up. Big 3 are Colley, Moss, Portis. Jaccobs need to do something.

Here's another preview, courtesy of DJ Gallo from ESPN's Page 2:
Washington at Tampa Bay Tampa Bay scores on its first drive thanks to Washington linebacker LaVar Arrington missing his assignments so badly he's actually flagged twice for pass interference on Jon Gruden. Joe Gibbs then pulls Arrington from the game and leaves him chained in the locker room shower alongside Patrick Ramsey.
With Arrington out of the way, Washington's defense takes over, forcing Chris Simms into multiple turnovers on the way to a 17-7 halftime lead. This causes Gruden to scrunch up his face.
Looking for a spark, Gruden pulls Simms for Major Applewhite and the Buccaneers immediately respond with a touchdown to pull within 17-14. This causes Gruden to scrunch up his face.
The Redskins don't allow Tampa Bay to get any closer, however, and hold on for a 24-17 victory. This causes Jon Gruden to scrunch up his face.

Thanks Chris - That is good info! I am more interested in "what have you done for me lately" and I do not think what happened between these 2 teams 8 weeks ago means ANYTHING!
I think we win this game because of Brunell and Portis - I also think this D will frustrate both CWilliams and Sims!
Redskins 24-10
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
