Team officials won't talk, but a little birdie says the reason Vikings controversial cornerback Fred Smoot was in full uniform on the Metrodome sideline but didn't play a down Sunday in the team's season-ending victory over the Chicago Bears is because he blatantly disregarded the team's curfew the night before, on New Year's Eve. Word is Smoot placed a couple of pillows under his bed's blanket as a decoy at the team hotel.
He CAN NOT be traded. The cap hit on Minny would be humongous. They are stuck with him. And him with them
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
Its just gets better and better. I remeber hearing on NFL Network when they showed the clips of the vikings/carolina game they referred to Smoot as one of the "elite corners" .... If he was so elite why was he getting mopped up and down the sideline by Steve Smith? It really baffles me as to how his game dropped going to Minny when they have a heck of a pass rush and we dont. Lack of attention, motivation?
Over the offseason we heard how the Skins got robbed in the Coles/Moss deal and were foolish to let go of Smoot.
Some of these guys just need to remember that Joe Gibbs has 3 Super Bowl rings for a reason, and that their journalism degree from Tufts University doesn't mean they know a damn thing about football.

Degrees? - I agree JPM but I don't know that many of these guys have degrees - at least not in Journalism. We do know they've got brown noses and most have brown eyes.
Smoot will never be with the Redskins if there is a G. Williams involved.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Walt plays for the Redskins - Smoot does not and will not!

How in the world did all of these problems develop just as Smoot left Washington? He seemed like a quality guy while he was here. We definitely let him go at the right time, and the list of reasons keeps growing:
* He makes a lot more money but doesn't seem to be a great cornerback
* The boat incident
* Missing a game for stupid mistakes
* They are just rumors, but is Smoot now unhappy in Minn.??

Probally so for the reason you listed plus...
1. He really loved DC but left because he was being greedy.
2. He left because of Chumps advice but the reasons Chump left no longer exist. We have order, structure and continuity. He's looking back at greener grass because he walked into what he thought he was leaving.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
