props to dan snyder

Post by skins2357 »

i know dannyboy has made many enemies and doubters with his crazy spendings over the past years, but I wanna give props to dan snyder for opening up his checkbook to keep GW and making him the highest paid asst coach IN THE HISTORY of the NFL. He saw how important it was to keep him and also realized that it could be a distraction with teams talking tohim with us still playing. I could not be happier with snyder right now. I am actually thankful to have an awner who is not afraid to spend money to win unlike other owners who are prude to paying big money. Thanks Danny Boy!!!!

He's made some bad moves in the past, but Synder's learning, and he DOES want to win. I've never been one to hate him - he's nowhere near as bad as the Bidwells. Poor, poor Cardinal fan.

Daniel Snyder's stock with Redskins fans began its meteoric rise the day he brought back "The Living Legend" Joe Gibbs.

He's steadily been making up for his early transgressions.

I've always been an ardent Snyder supporter. He makes some questionable moves at times, but he really does love the Redskins with a passion.

I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if Snyder could operate in a cap-free environment. I don't think the NFL will go cap-less again but man, can you imagine what our team would look like?

Major props to "The Danny". Yes, he's made foolish decisions in the past. But I think it's more of a testament to his desire for a championship-caliber team in DC. The last two years have really shown his maturity -- still using his deep pockets but making sound personnel decisions and letting them (Gibbs) run the team.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

In many many was the Redskins and the Yankees are the same, from organization to owner. They are both the most highly valued (dollar amount) team in there sport and Dan Synder is just like The BOSS! They are free spenders and they are determined to win. George has made a bunch of bad moves in his earlier years but in the last ten years they have made better trades. Synder did make a few bad moves when he first bought the team ie; Sanders and Smith, but he is getting smarter and understanding the needs. Dan does have a big ego but he wants to win and he is willing to do whatever. I personally love having a owner like that.

Welcome to "hog heaven" - I think you will enjoy it here.
I just want to let you know that there are some here who might like that greedy group of ball players in NY but I am one who has no respect for how that owner does business or how many low life bad fans support the team and it's obnoxious owner. That's just me! That guy is different from Snyder in that he's not interested in making baseball better he just wants to make his team better and at the expense of hurting both baseball and his competition. Not a good guy!

I think Danny is a great fan but (so far) a not very good "owner" - but he is learning and now that he's brought Gibbs back and put him in charge of the team operations - we will be okay again. Thanks Danny!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I heard Doc Walker tell s story today on WTEM about Mark May after MayDay went to Arizona.

They were going to play a late-season game in a cold-weather city (Chicago or Green Bay) and May asked the Cards' equipment manager to get him a pair of thermal gloves for the game -- cost about $150.

The equip. guy said expenditures "that big" had to be cleared by Mr. Bidwill.

Guess what? Denied.

I guess you should have thought of that before you jumped in with both feet. Obviously you're not that strong in your convictions, so we'll just leave it so that when the when wind blows and changes your mind, I won't have to do more work. :-)

The first "best move" by Danny, getting Gibbs, was followed by his next "best move"....keeping his mouth shut and letting Football people run the football operations. I have been so happy and relieved to see he has acted as I think we all hoped and deferred to Gibbs.

I reset alot of people's perceptions up here this year when they started up again with the "The Redskins will never win with that owner" argument. I would just ask them how much they had heard from Danny in the past year. The most common reaction was a pause as they thought about it, then a shrug and a "hmm, you might be right".

Hello!!!!I think this new three year deal is great!!!!I think that is kind of funny that it's a "three year deal",isn't that when gibbs contract runs out!!I think Willams will be our next head coach, if gibbs decides to retire again after his contract is up!!

I thought the criticism of Snyder was always kinda silly. Yes, he made some stupid mistakes. However, he had to learn on the job.

And he's always willing to spend. Better him than a cheapskate owner not interested in spending money on their players.

Bosshog, I deserved that  Chris Luva Luva does make a good point in that signing coaches is one thing but players are a different animal. I do, however, like the chemistry with recent additions and also dumping of players from this staff---

While he is always willing to spend the money, many times he was his and the Redskins' own worst enemy. I'm not 100% sold on Danny yet but he's bringing me around with his:

1.) Hire of Gibbs

and

2.) How he's learned how to be an owner since Joe has been here and basically stayed out of the limelight and let the football people do their jobs.

Just like any player that doesn't do well his first 5 or so years and then all of a sudden gets religion and starts producing, he has brought around most if not all of his detractors. I'm guardedly optimistic that he will continue to remain the type of owner he has been the past two years. We will see but I'm warming up to Danny day by day.

Dan is the Man! I have always loved how aggresive he is. Yes he's made some dumb mistakes, but at least hes willing to try and definaly willing to spend whatever it takes! I mean what if we did win a superbowl with the deion,Carrier,Smith crew. Then everyone would say what a genius he was. Although that was a pretty stupid move bringing in an aging excowboy! But hey hindsight is 20-20.

Ive always felt that Gibbs would teach Danny the way but I still have doubts but Ive had some reassurances also. I'll take it a day at a time.

The best gauge of how Snyder has improved is how little he has talked to the press since hiring Joe Gibbs. Plus how few player decisions (probably none) that he has made.

Dan is the man! all owners and gm's have made mistakes with trades and signings it comes with the business, not every move will work out. But it all starts at the top, he brought in Gibbs they together assembled a good staff with a good system and then you get the right players to play with in it. I love the fact that he wants to win, for him and the fans. He is just a winner in life and he past business, and he wants to be a winner on the field. There is nothing wrong with that.

TC - not sure what your continued problem with me is but let me let you in on something -> my opinions don't have to mirror yours on every issue regarding the Redskins. I love the Redskins and have loved them since the early 70's when I started watching football as a youngster with my dad. Does this team (including coach and owner) do everything right ? Of course not. I call them like I see them. I am of the mind that one does not have to love every move their team makes to be a fan. I give props to Dan for working his way through his Sign-Jeff George & Deion Sanders-lets send our team into cap hell-fire all the staff and raise prices on everything-phase of team ownership. I am impressed with his management since Gibbs has been here but that has only been less than 2 years out of how many? This is why I'm not 100% completely sold. I always take a fresh look at my opinions when the evidence changes and with Dan it is changing. I'm warming up to him daily. I'm glad (like everyone else here) he has the willingness to spend money unlike Bidwell in Arizona. I'm just hoping that this recent trend is the way he'll be for the rest of his tenure as the owner.
