Bailey: 2-way "bargin"?

I know the Bailey trade is a done deal & it seems like he did not want to be here anyway, but assuming for a minute he was amenable to coming back...

I was just thinking that, if he's a 2-way player, even if he is a #3 or #4 WR, wouldn't that potentially justify a larger salary & bonus? In fact you could make an argument that he's a back up return man as well so that's almost 3 positions. So, not only do you have the $ that would normally be spent on a 3rd or 4th WR, BUT you also would get some extra flexibility from an overall roster standpoint. It would seem this flexibility would be worth a great deal as well. Teams always seem to have a hard time getting to the roster limit - this would seem to be a help.

Just curious what everyone thinks.

As a fan, I always wanted to see Bailey play wide reciever, but if I was a coach, I would never allow that to happen. Putting injury risk aside, the time spent at wide reciever can only detract from the quality of play at cornerback. If Bailey had the potential to be a star on both sides of the ball, maybe it would be worth it, but why risk your top cornerback for the sake of having him play fourth wide reciever?

I seriously doubt Bailey gets anything more than a look at wide reciever. Denver need some youth at that position, but with Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey and Ashley Lelie, Bailey is looking at being the fourth wide reciever in his best case scenario. Maybe Denver hinted they would give him a chance on the other side of the ball, but if he plays one snap of offense I will be shocked (although as a fan, I really hope he does...)

Hey, what champ does at home is his business ...j/k, champ SUCKED at wide reciever and he SUCKED more as punt returner. i used to really like champ but he's not as good as everyone says, he's not a "shutdown" corner everyone says he is. he's a very good young corner but if you watched the games last year he certainly didn't shut everyone down, he gave up some BIG receptions in BIG spots. My advice is to stop worrying about champ and get in line to get you a new portis jersey.

i would play him at cornerback period. nothing else will do but take out the coaches trash.

He was a terrible punt returner, but I didn't think he was THAT bad at wide reciever. He definetly wasn't good enough to play both ways...

injury risk alone would prevent it. i personally don't think you risk a huge investment being out of position.

are you crazy? he fumbled the ball every time he touched it. if you put him on offense you could go ahead and call him Tom Bailey (Turn Over Machine) he had one good game i think in that meaningless season finale a few years back i think when robiskie was the coach. he had a couple nice plays on O. otherwise he put the ball on the ground about every time he touched it. who cares he's gone now anyways

Seems to me to be madness risking your best CB playing at WR taking a big hit from all those nasty linebackers.

definetly too risky for a big investment but superman...YOU are crazy. you obviously must have never seen him play at UG OR as a 'skin on O. he did fumble on that reverse, but he did not have any other fumbles on offense. i will admit that he did struggle as pr guy, but he did do it college when he was asked, and I bet if you trained him up on it in training camp, he'd be fine. The man is dangerous in the open field with the ball.
