What can the skins do to help out at coner position!!

Post by skinpride1 »

Just wondering what can be done to help our injuries at coner position? Can we bring in some new faces or is it too late for that!!Are we better off to keep the backups in?I hate that Rodgers and Jimoh went down.I think the best way to overcome this is for our offense to rule the time played on the field and help our defense out!!!

Jimoh was taken out for illness, not injury, so it's likely that he'll be back. (Note to self; aren't you the same guy that used to dread Jimoh getting playing time?) Since he's been "getting" what the coaching staff has been trying to teach him, he's gotten better, and even I had to admit that he flat out PASTED that Eagle yesterday on the punt return.

GW is going to have to generate some pressure to offset our CB situation. Our coaches have a game under their belt against them to look at,and make changes plus Corny and ST are back for this one.

Hopefully Rogers can go... we'll be a lot better off if he can.

In fact, we'll be fine if he can.

I'd be calling Garnell Wilds for sure... but they haven't all year, so I gues there's no reason to assume that they will now.

While Morton was adequate yesterday, we've seen Wilds shut down Randy Moss.

Jimoh is not ill. They miscalled his problem. It's an irregular heartbeat, which could have a million causes. He just needs to be watched for reoccurance. So with him and Rogers, hopefully. Rogers did some work outs prior to the Eagles game so he should be on the mend. Let's hope he's fully mended by Saturday. And I guess we'll hear word on Springs later today. So with a little luck our cornerback situation will look brighter by Saturday.

here is the report from foxsports:

Springs is day-to-day
Jimoh has the irregular heartbeat, as Niki said, he's been given medicine that should get him through the game, so he's a go.
Rogers said, "If it hurts, it hurts."
Harris will play, Morton will probably play nickel.

that's Jimoh, Harris, Morton, and Rogers. Rogers and Harris will start, and the other two guys will fill in where needed, we'll be okay.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hail to the Redskins!

Why he was released is beyond me. The only thing I can fathom is that he wasn't stellar on S/T.

what happened to Wilds? They seemed pretty high on him being a role player at one time...

But he's on the practice squad and therefore unprotected.

I would imagine those rules change as soon as the regular season ends though... I'll see if I can find anything in the CBA.

...guess if I finished reading the thread first I would have had my answer... anyway I think this game will be completely different from the first... we need to pressure Sims somehow in order to force some those young QB mistakes, and we need to find a way to get Cooley up field and free from those linebackers hanging on him around the line of scrimmage...

Following up... as far as I can tell, a player can be plucked from another team's practice squad at ANY point in the league year as long as they go to the active roster and not the practice squad.

From the collective bargaining agreement:

Section 2. Signing With Other Clubs: Any player under contract to a Club as a practice squad player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club at any time during the League Year, to serve as a player on any Club’s Active or Inactive List, and any Club is completely free to negotiate and sign such a Player Contract with such player, without penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind, or any signing period, except that such player shall not be permitted to sign a Player Contract with another Club to serve as a practice squad player while under contract as a practice squad player.

I haven't been able to verify this yet, but I'm almost certain that the league year begins and ends in February. I always thought that the opening of free agency signified the beginning of the new league year.

Good find, Boss. Hopefully Wilds has grown back some of his hair. The locks were definitely key to his stellar performance against top recivers like Moss.

I wonder how much he'd actually he able to contribute after being in a different scheme for so long. I guess we wouldn't have to worry about his health/conditioning. He'd be a worthy pickup if we were in a bind.
