Superstitions

Post by Justice Hog »

We all have our superstitions when it comes to watching Redskins football. Here were a few of mine this year:

1. I just "had" to wear my Cooley jersey to all of the home games because they were winning each time I wore it early on. When they finally lost, I switched jerseys.

2. The Redskins are now 2-0 when I'm wearing my Redskins Santa hat to the game. Does that mean I gotta wear it next September?

3. During the Philly game, at half time, I took off my Riggins jersey that I wore during the 1st half and switched to a t-shirt that was definitely anti-Philly for the 2nd half to "change my mojo". See Anti-Philly Mojo Thread

These are just a few of the things I did this year.

Some people bet against the Redskins so they'll win (not mentioning any names......JPM36). As for the rest of you, do you have any superstitions you wanna share with us?

Since the 5 game winning streak started every Monday I wear my Redskin sweatshirt to work. This morning I couldn't find it and was going crazy looking for it at 3:30am. (I leave for work at 3:45am) I found it without having to wakeup my wife, but it was close.:)

My superstitions have been pretty rediculous. I was chewing gum during the Cowboys game so I made sure to leave pieces from that same pack for both the Giants game and the Philly game...guess it worked but now I'm out. I also refuse to bet on the Skins, if anything I bet against them.

Same Sean Taylor jersey, Property of Redskins t-shirt underneath, same boxers every game this season.

The last 5 weeks I've also taken to betting against the Redskins (since every team I bet on seems to lose) and I've worn my old Redskins socks.

You can be sure I'll be continuing each of these traditions on Saturday.

Redskins stocking hung with care on the mantle. Bought it 1 game into the streak and we haven't lost yet. My wife accidentally took it down during the first quarter of the e-girls game. Could explain the poor performance during the first half...

I had a romantic dinner, wine, dance, the works, with this gorgeous woman each evening before the game over -every- game that we won. Then I put a Redskin hat and watch the game on tv but she only comes to watch when we score. She knows to stay away when the -other- team scores too.

She puts up with my screams, rants, exuberant chants, and, worse, my poor rendition of Hail to the Redskins.

She is my lovely wife.

since the 5 game streak began. I sat in the same seat, same gear, crossed my hands the same way, feet in the same position, had the same websites up on my laptop. When this went wronng, i realised it was because my roommate was sitting next to me and not in his room. needless to say i sent him to his room. we scored a td. He came out, portis got hurt. i sent him away, eagles fumbled.

I may lock him in his room until the season ends!

I sat in my den watching the game. In my den we have two chairs, and i normally had sat on the right side throughout the season

I came home for the st. louis game and my dad was in my seat so i switched to the left side. It turned out to be a better view so i kept it. After about the third win I began to think it was good luck. I would only watch the game at home in that chair, wouldn't go out. Guess u guys can guess where i'll be watching the game saturday.

Speaking of superstitions, aparently the skins believe in it, wearing the all whites three weeks in a row during the division run

The "Miracle Shot". A shot of warm Tito's Vodka drank from my Redskins shot glass. I only use it when I think we really need it as I've seen it go to waste if I pull it out too early. I had to use it last night which is kinda ironic since I didn't need it for the cowboys or giants.

The other ironic thing? Tito's vodka is made in Austin Texas...

Now you may think that it should never work, but I actually met Tito himself (I'm in the business) and told him about the Miracle Shot and he told me he was glad it worked because he doesn't like Dallas or the Cowboys!! So there's some major Karma in the Miracle Shot recipe. Some serious Karma... -drinking

Well for me its wierd I kept cussing at the tv when the skins where losing. So I had to walk away from the set and go down stairs and get a drink the second I did that Marshall got the interception then Portis scored on the next play. When I watched the games we lost when I waited till the game was over and not watch the skins the skin win.

Isn't it bad luck to wash your gameday outfit when you are on a winning streak? My T-shirt, Polo Shirt (70th Anniversary), Sweatshirt, and Socks won't hit the washing machine until the season is over.
