Dick Vermeil Tells Chiefs He Will Retire After This Season

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Dick Vermeil Tells Chiefs He Will Retire After This Season

Dick Vermeil will retire after the season as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, one of his players told The Associated Press on Saturday night. The player, who asked that his name not be used until after the announcement was official, said he was present when Vermeil broke the news during a team meeting earlier in the day. The Kansas City Star first reported that Vermeil was leaving, quoting team official Lynn Stiles. The 69-year-old Vermeil, the NFL's oldest head coach, could end his career on Sunday when the Chiefs (9-6) face Cincinnati in their final regular-season game. But Kansas City could still make the playoffs with a win and Pittsburgh loss to Detroit. Stiles, who was at meeting, said Vermeil appeared at peace with his decision. "I know so. ... It's the right thing for him to do, for his family, and it's the right thing to do for the organization," said Stiles, the Chiefs' vice president for football operations. Vermeil's wife, Carol, told the AP that he was not available for comment.

Maybe if you stopped leaping to conclusions, you wouldn't hate things so much.

So what if the Chiefs are an obvious suitor for GW bcause it's near his home... I think the question is do the Chiefs have enough MONEY to lure GW away from Danny's pocketbook and the allure of learning from one of the best coaches in the game.

I don't think they do. I think GW is HAPPY waiting in the wings to take this team.... especially when he's making more money than a lot of head coaches.

I admit that KC is a good fit for GW, but does that make it a foregone conclusion? Personally, I don't think so.

Kansas City would be pretty darn hard to turn down, they have all the parts offensively in place and with Gwill's defensive prowess he could turn that team into a machine. PLEASE SNYDER DO SOMETHING TO KEEP GREGG WILLIAMS!!!!!! Next season is not that far and our coaching staff's continuity will be a key just like it was this year.

KC will have a coach before GW is available to be interviewed (if he is taking interviews) Dick has been talking about handing over the job to his long time OC all year. Norm Edwards has been rumored for the Job. Both are Top 3 canidates. I don't know where Gregg Williams comes in on these ranking but I'm willing to bet he'll be busy next week.

Personally I feel that GW is loving being here with the REDSKINS....I know money goes a long way, but I just feel like his heart is setting here.

I was told by a little bird that you also like romantic comedies and soap operas too.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
