Gibbs' Job Done???

Post by Wysocki »

In my giddiness after today's win, suppose we win the Super Bowl - does Joe retire (with nothing left to prove, go out on top, etc.) and turn things over to Willams? Or does he fulfill his 5-year obligation? I think he would call it a career and maybe be a "consultant"...

I think there is no way Greg leaves. He is here for a reason. He could have possibly gotten a head coaching job last year and we sucked and never had a shot at the post season. He's here learning from one of the greatest offensive coaches of all time. He goes NO WHERE until Gibbs goes, and my guess.................he stays here but just moves up a rung on the ladder when Gibbs re-retires.

If he wants to go, and if he's ready...Blache can do the job.
Why hold a man back ? Dallas wants him, too.
If I had my druthers, he goes far away if he has to go.

Gibbs has said at least 80 times that he is here for, at the very least, his five year contract. I have never known Gibbs to lie, so he'll be here. Williams might go somewhere, but he blew his chance in Buffalo. Right now, he can learn how its done from watching a Hall of Fame Head Coach. He still has so much more he can learn. For that reason he will stay..........At least I hope so.

Unless there is a cap on pay for coaches GW stays in Washington. Snyder should pay whatever it takes up to $5M/yr. :)

To the Redskins Front Office:

KEEP GREGG WILLIAMS AT ALL COSTS. Blache is a great d-line coach but no Williams and I DEFINATELY do not want to see Gregg W go to Dallas. I hate those guys from texas so much I bet Jerry Jones is scheme-ing as we speak on how to steal our Def. Genius along with KC,MINN,DET,HOUSTON, and N.O...Although I seriously doubt Parcells is ready to leave the game, all four teams in our division will come hard and strong next season and all will be competing in the off-season. God it feels good to knock them boys out the tournament making them really feel the two butt whoopings we handed them. BEAT TAMPA, Hail to the Redskins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps- just give Gregg all that dough we we're suppossed to pay what's his name 56.

you're right about the "giddiness" bit and you obviously do not know much about this guy called Gibbs. He is not like any other coach and does not evaluate "progress" on wins and losses or "records". He is back to do a job, not achieve anything like some others.

Gibbs is motivated by his ability to succeed in what he does and this time he will leave when this team is on a level that he is comfortable with. This will not be "done" by any wins of any championships.

Gibbs is the best he does not have anything to prove.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

After all we have heard from this guy - I find it hard to believe he will leave. Is he making it sound like he will leave or as he has recently said "I owe it to my family, to consider all options". Because if that's the case then in my opinion his biggest opportunity is right here! Am I missing something you all are aware of?

The salary in KC is not going to entice him - it cannot be much bigger than this and he has the inside track here!

I hope Gregg realizes that he could possibly be in line to get a ring really soon if he sticks with this team. We're 2 components away from being a hella good team. We're 2 components away from being a DOMINATING team. Snyder needs to open up that pocket book and give Gregg whatever he wants.

Just a thought

Post by skins2357 »

Everyone knows that Joe Gibbs is the most humble man the NFL has known. In a time where people lose track of humbleness he continues to take the limelight off of himself and put it on his staff and players. My brother and I were talking today and he threw out an idea that I laughed at at first, then thought about and wouldnt put it by Gibbs. Say GW does feel the need to be a head coach again after this year. I would not put it by Gibbs to step down as the HC and become a OC or sonsultant and hand the team to GW. Im not saying Gibbs would retire but simply move out of the spotlight and take a secondary role. In todays sports, the thought of a HOF coach doing this is absurd, but I would not put it by Gibbs. He is such a humble man who loves this orginization that I really think he would do whatever is best for this team. Not trying to say this will happen or that GW is deff leaving, but just making a point that Gibbs is a class act and I would not put it by him if he feels its best for the team. With that being said, thats after Gibbs wins his 4th Super Bowl!!!!!

haha hes humble, but come on. No- way he steps down and gives it to GW. GW is good, but Gibbs is not on his nuts that he will give him his own job just so GW can stay around. Why is it that some of you are so fond of GW that you would rather have him as our head coach than Gibbs. Sure GW can coach D, but what makes everyone think he can be a head coach. Being a head coach takes way more than being able to coach defense well. A head coach must control every aspect of the team, including personell decisions. A head coach must be VERY prepared, in all phases. No way he steps down like that, after making the playoffs.

I don't know if we'd rather have him as coach now, but we would like to see him stick around to take over for Gibbs when he steps down in a couple years. Hate to see a great coach go, when he is so close to being able to take the Head coaching job in D.C.

no way in hell I am saying that I would rather have GW be our HC rather than Gibbs. All I saying that I would not put it by Gibbs if he feels that GW is our future HC. By Gibbs staying on he would be the unnoficial HC basically. GW is a great defensive coach and I agree with you that as the head coach he is responsible for more than the defense, but by Gibbs staying around he would continue to show GW the ropes and mold him into Gibbs Jr. Like I said earlier, Im not saying that this will happen or that I want it to happen but all I am saying is I would not be suprised if Gibbs pulls this off. Not trying to ruffle any feathers or start a debate, and I hope with all of you that Danny opens up the checkbook to keep GW here until Gibbs officially calls it quits.

First, I want to amke it clear that this response is not a shot at Williams in any way.

I hope that Williams stays because he is not only a great defensive coach but also has some things to learn about being a head coach. If you will rmemeber, his tenure is Buffalo wasn't pretty. A little more seasoning and a second chance was is not all that is needed to become a head coach, Norv Turner just proved that. If I could give advice to Greg Williams, it would be to stay in Washington and learn from Joe Gibbs and become Washington's head coach after Gibbs decides he is done. You will have a great organization and team to take over where you understand the details that it takes to get ot the Hall of Fame.

Wait....what "||||" marks? I don't see them...
