I've been reading that Tim Brandt WJLA is reporting that Kearse's signing is imminent. Well, I guess we all figured that. Woo hoo! The Freak Stealing Holsey and Lang's jersey number! I love it! :rock:

Man, that dude has an 86 INCH WING SPAN! That, my friends, is why he is called The Freak! I can not wait to see him be a force on our young and very powerful defense.

That would be a key addition. I guess Gibbs wasn't joking when he said they already know who they're going after. This shows that Gibbs and Williams are working quite well together.

I hope this is just a rumor. Kearse will be hurt once he becomes a Redskin. This will again be another bad move. Maybe the Redskins will go 6 - 10 next season.

Man when is Dan Snyder gonna build a team. I thought the free spending would be more controlled with JJGibbs around. I guess I was wrong. Another big off season, another bad season.

I would disagree with this. I think you're underestimating Joe Gibbs. Snyder's current function is a sort of de-facto "Cap expert" adviser to Gibbs. Make no mistake about it: Any moves being made now are being made by Joe Gibbs. I think it's a little soon to be saying "another bad season". True, in the past we've made big moves in the off season only to bomb in the regular season. The only difference being, Joe Gibbs is calling the shots now.

i would add that i think that most of the moves last offseason (basically trading picks for young, proven players) were good. they weren't good enough, however, to make up for extremely poor coaching. with a real coach, i think we'll see a big difference this year.

Well, for the last two years Spurrier was supposed to have this amazing offense. There were feelings of excitement then, just like there are now. I just wanna see wins and I wanna see them on a consistent basis.

Every off season this team has holes to fill, and sometimes 'gapping holes' like the Dline this year. After adding some FA's, the team will have a lull in the season and they have a spot where there is some hope.

Mr. Snyder spends money, I can't argue with that, but man how about going the route of building a winner.

I hope all of this excitement that exudes from these chat boards is not all for naught. I am a loyal Redskin fan, but I do want glory days again. I just doesn't seem like it is being gone about in a way that appeals to the fans.

Maybe Mr. Snyder figures bad is good. As long as there is hope every off season the fans will keep coming back, and hey he's got tons of money to keep us interested.

I disagree. People can justifiably criticize Dan Snyder for meddling and being a big spender. But, I reject the suggestion that he's not a financial guru. He's proven that he knows how to handle the cap and contract offers. Realistically, and contrary to what the media were reporting a few weeks ago, we've never really had any problems with the cap. Maybe the Deion one was bad, but other than that, our cap figures have always been fine. We've never been in any danger.

lavar, samuels, ramsey, portis, coles, morton, smoot....all these guys are young-and talented. some teams 'build' through the draft, others through free agency. as long as we're getting enough young & talented players, what's the difference?

No offense to Mr. Spurrier, but he's no Joe Gibbs. Spurrier couldn't even hold Joe Gibbs' clipboard.

With all the differences, and there are many, between the two, the only one that is of any relevance in this matter is this:

Spurrier came on board, with the hope that his "system" would work in the NFL. It didn't.

Gibbs has already PROVEN that his can, and did.

I betcha a lot of people aren't gonna like reading this...but I feel ya, man. If you look at this teams' "history", you see heavy free agent spending and nothing to show for it during the regular season so I, for one, won't knock you for your pessimistic views.

Unlike years past, however, the Redskins for 2004 are going to have an absolutely great coaching staff. This, my friend, will be the difference maker. This year the Redskins will get the value they're looking for from their free agent acquisitions...because the coaches will get them to play to their potential!!

I can't wait!

I also agree, for those who think snyder is an "expert", consider how much he overpays guys. R. Thomas is a good player, maybe even real good, but worth the biggest contract for an interior lineman? No. Fiore...enough said. Even Portis, a guy making $350k and we don't even bother to bargain him down but instead go right out and sign him to the biggest rb contract in nfl history yet there was absolutely no need to do this (though a new contract would eventually be neccessary). The list goes on, Carrier, Deion, Bruce, etc. Even L. Coles received a signing bonus HIGHER than what he first asked for.

Snyder is an irresponsible fantasy football owner and ONLY Joe Gibbs can save us from our own management.

Let us not forget that our biggest need last year was DL too (also perhaps the most important position on the field), yet we screwed that up, big time. Snyder needs to learn, and (hopefully, i pray) he will, but for now I hope Gibbs is the panacea we've been searching for.

I find this interesting...Portis had two years left on his contract and we redid it. Many here bash Bailey for leaving in the name of greed. I think this just proves Bailey point as to the way he was treated, yes he was offered a contract at the last moment but by that time it was too late. Had the Redskins moved to get him signed a few years back instead of throwing money at over rated high priced FA he may have signed for less and a cap friendly deal. Don't beat me up over this...I could be totally wrong the point I'm making is look at how a player who's never played 1 play for us is being treated vs. a player who was a All-Pro player for us??
