Happy Holidays From TCWest10
Well, kids...it's that time again. Hopefully by now, you've got all the shopping done, gotcher tree up and lit, and haven't started any unintentional fires.
I'm not a religious person at all. Don't believe a word of it, truthfully. Still, I tend to use Christmas as a way to mark the passing of time. We always take pictures of the kids around this time of year, and it's funny...you don't realize how much they've grown over the year until you've done the comparisions. The marks on the wall where they all measure their heights start out at around 3 feet, and there's one mark that's now over me. Looking up at the mark, I called my oldest son downstairs. "There's no way you're taller than me, Sonny", I told him. He said, "Yes I am !"
Nose to nose now, and I admit I'm looking up a little bit, but my neck hurts and isn't straight, and he's wearing sneakers.
My little victory won't last for long.
Everybody says, "They grow so fast", and it's true. They really do. If you take the time to be a part of it, you can grow with them.
We're short a kid this year, and forever. Her marks on the wall aren't ever going to go up any further, nor will we have the chance to watch her grow, and to grow with her. I don't know if it's made us closer or tougher, but I do know that we're paying a lot more attention to the little things; celebrating good grades with Pizza Hut dinners, chaperoning school trips, going to the choral concerts and ball games and not being too old to trick-or-treat or sledding. Slowly, but surely, we have allowed ourselves to breathe again. We're able to tell jokes now, and to not just break down should somebody inadvertently mention her name.
After all, it's Christmas...and we're all still here. Still growing, loving, fighting...and learning to live again.
Get your family together, love 'em to death...and have a great holiday.

Thanks for the warm wishes, tc. You've showed great courage in 2005, and I hope you have a great 2006. Thanks for being a part of this board. Your contributions are greatly appreciated by yours truly. Have a safe and happy "non-holy day" () with the family, and many wishes for a prosperous and blessed New Year. Be safe, and God bless.

Happy Holidays to all. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or Festivus . . . I hope everyone's holiday season is filled with joy, happiness and love. Be safe everyone . . . and please drive defensively, watching out for the drunks on the roads.

Frank Costanza: Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.
Cosmo Kramer: What happened to the doll?
Frank Costanza: It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born . . . a Festivus for the rest of us!
Cosmo Kramer: That must've been some kind of doll.
Frank Costanza: She was.

The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!
Thanks for sharing the sentiments, TC. I was so moved by your post that I made my wife pause TIVO to listen to me recite it. The world spins so fast, that it's hard to keep up with...or to even know what to keep up with. Family and friends are two of our most important treasures. I'll squeeze my family a little harder on the next hug. To all my Hogs brethren, Merry Christmas. May the new year be kind, may we learn from our mistakes, and repeat our successes.
Cheers
