Here's ALL the info you need to know. Nice and concise too:

The playoff seed possibilities are narrowing down for the Redskins. If they go 10-6 and win the NFC East, they will be the four seed. Seattle and Chicago have locked up #1 and #2 respectively. The winner of the NFC South will either have 11 wins or it will be Tampa Bay at 10-6 and the Bucs would get the higher seed due to their win over the Redskins.

If the Redskins win on Sunday to earn their playoff spot, they will be the five seed if Carolina loses at Atlanta and they will be the six seed if the Panthers win. If they manage to back in despite a loss on Sunday, they will be the six seed.

If Washington wins the division it will host either the Giants, Panthers, or Bucs. A Wild Card berth will earn a trip to one of those three teams.

One Win and We're Finally In

Post by JPM36 »

When we were 5-6 we couldn't have possibly asked for anything more than this. All we need to do on Sunday is beat a depleted Eagles team who has nothing to play for, and we are headed to the playoffs.

Of course, the fact of the matter is that if the refs don't blatantly screw the Panthers on Saturday we'd already be IN the playoffs, but I digress.....

At the beginning of the season I offered my predictions for all 16 Redskins regular season games:

http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic. ... gundy+gold

Interestingly enough, I had us at 9-6 going into Philly on the last day of the regular season following home victories over the Cowboys and Giants.

I have us losing that game in my original predictions, but these were made back in the pre-season before the Eagles lost Owens, McNabb, Westbrook, Thomas, Fraley, Lito, and possibly Kearse and Sheldon Brown to injury.

I also had us getting into the playoffs at 9-7 but I seem to have underestimated the NFC and it looks like we will need 10 wins to get in.

Anyways....here's my new prediction for the game on Sunday:

1/1 @ Eagles

Having won 4 straight games, the Redskins have improbably moved to the front of the wild card chase and need just one more win to secure their first playoff berth in 6 years. It will not come easily though as the Eagles will surely be fired up in front of their home crowd, with a chance to ruin the Skins' season. Philly has a respectable 4-3 home record, but that mark is a little deceiving. 3 of the 4 home wins came against the 49ers, Packers, and Raiders, three of the worst teams in the NFL. The other home victory came against the Chargers on a blocked field goal returned for a TD, arguably the flukiest play of the entire 2005 NFL season. Only the Packers win came under Mike McMahon, and that game came down to the final play.

I think that the Eagles will play the Redskins very tough in the first quarter, maybe even the whole first half, but eventually the Redskins desperation will win out over a thin Eagles team who has nothing to play for. I expect another 100 yard game for Clinton Portis, and TDs from Moss and Cooley, no matter who is playing QB, although I suspect that Brunell will be the man under center.

Redskins win 27-13.

I also anticipate wins from the Giants, Bucs and Panthers, leaving the NFC seeding as follows:

1. Seahawks
2. Bears
3. Bucs
4. Giants
5. Panthers
6. Redskins

This would be great for us, as I think we have already proven that we are a better team than Tampa and we would have a great chance of beating them in the wild card round. In my mind, we'd have a much better chance of winning in Tampa than in the Meadowlands.

I'm interested to hear other predictions for Sunday's huge game.

Our ideal scenario would be

1. Seattle
2. Chicago
3. TB
4. Washington
5. NY
6. Carolina

We need one home game.
Death to all things remotely BLUE and SILVER!!!!!!!!!!! Hail Skins

According to that link, there are 28 possible outcomes. Out of those, 2 outcomes (~7%) put us at the 3 seed, 2 outcomes put us at the 4 seed, 5 outcomes (~18%) put us at the 5 seed, with the remaining 18 outcomes split evenly (at 9 a piece -- or ~32%) between the 6 seed and not making the playoffs. Basically we have a 68% chance of making the playoffs.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

IF we lose to Philly nothing matters because we won't see the playoffs. There is no way St.Louis beats that team in texas. Go Skins ONE MORE!
