My Take on "The Fine Fifteen by Peter King"

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

My Take on "The Fine Fifteen by Peter King"

Post by 1niksder »

The Fine Fifteen by Peter King

1. Indianapolis (13-2). It'd be a good idea if the Colts play one good offensive half against Arizona on Sunday. It's been a while since they've been the Colts.

Not much room to complain here but they have lost two in a row…

2. New England (9-5). Not to look ahead or anything, but that's a strange game next Sunday: Miami at New England. Assuming the Pats win tonight in the swamps of Jersey, a win over the Dolphins and a Cincinnati loss at Kansas City, which will be playing for something, means the Patriots would be the third seed and could avoid a trip to Indy on the divisional playoff weekend. 'Fins will be playing the game very hard, because Nick Saban will want to be over .500. With a wild-card game certain, playing for everything next week will mean New England won't have a player-resting buffer before the playoffs begin.

It seems like he is rooting for the Pats to get the third seed as a way of justifying the no. 2 spot in his ranking. Where would he rank them if he wanted the Jets to win tonight?

3. Seattle (13-2). Don't know what exactly that game meant against the Colts. It had a bit of third preseason game feel to it.

It meant they should be ranked no worst than second.

4. Denver (12-3). I wonder if Al Davis ever wishes he had given Mike Shanahan a better chance.

I think the Bears should be ranked higher than the Broncs but that’s just me.

5. Pittsburgh (10-5). Against Chicago, Minnesota and Cleveland the last three weeks, the Steelers have allowed one touchdown and two field goals.

I not sure they are a top five team right now….

6. Cincinnati (11-4). Great, great playoff game likely for 1 p.m., Jan. 7, Paul Brown Stadium: Steelers at Bengals.

They lost to The Bills???

7. Chicago (11-4). Different team with Rex Grossman.

Should be ranked higher but no. 2 in the NFC is about right.

8. Giants (10-5) -- Tom Coughlin's done a good job with this team, obviously. But giving the ball to Tiki Barber 16 times on the ground and having Eli Manning throw it 41 times ... it wasn't one of Coughlin's finest coaching days.

Definitely not Top 10… let alone he ranked them higher than the team that just beat them in a game they both needed

9. San Diego (9-6). Don't ask me. Just don't ask me. I do not have the answers. I think the inconsistency here has something to do with the emotion the Chargers defense plays with. It was A-plus at Indy, B-plus at Kansas City. Still good, but not good enough to stop Larry Johnson.

If he didn’t have the answers why would he go ahead a put a team that will be sitting at home in January in the top ten. Maybe he should have posted a statement that read “It’s the holidays and I didn’t really spend much time on this” under the byline.

10. Washington (9-6). Not sure how, but they're going to be a handful for someone, probably Tampa Bay, in the playoffs.

Not sure how? Of the 9 teams ranked higher, the Skins have played 5 of them –one of them twice (posting a split 3-3)… It’s call Joe Gibbs football you Headcase. Thanks for the Top 10 (most have been an over-site) but The Redskins are playing at a level that even Peter King has to give them some props (no matter how much it pains him)

11. Tampa Bay (10-5). Chris Simms is 2-0 against Mike Vick this year. Interesting.

Someone might want to tell him Mike Vike ain’t the Superman they all hype him to be and their old adage that he wins we he plays is out the window too. Simms is proving he can win Vick has to start over

12. Carolina (10-5). Looks like the Panthers got robbed to me. In any case, what were you thinking, Steve Smith? What part of your brain says: "I think I'm going to grab this official around the waist?''

The Panthers did get robbed… then you screwed them is this ranking

13. Jacksonville (11-4). David Garrard is proving that he should be a quarterback, a starting quarterback. And he's proving the Jags won't be hopeless in the playoffs without Byron Leftwich.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Byron play this coming weekend but then again I look into what I say. The Jags barely beat the 49ers and Texans in back to back weeks. Not where you want to be going into the playoffs

14. Kansas City (9-6). Don't ask me where to rank the Chiefs. I have no idea. Lucky 13's as good a spot as any, I guess.

Somehow Martyball has something to with weather or not they get into the post season. Somehow that doesn’t sound like Top 15

15. (tie) Dallas (9-6). Impressive stat line of the weekend: Julius Jones, 34 carries, 194 yards.

Parcell’s status for the future is becoming a big story in Texas and he doesn’t want it to become a distraction so instead of saying he is coming back next year or that he isn’t he said he ain’t saying Nothing about Nothing. That should prevent that team from having any distraction.

15. (tie) Miami (8-7). Invisible stat line of the weekend: Ricky Williams, 26 carries, 172 yards.

They've been on a roll the past few weeks… Ricky plays better when Ronnie isn’t spitting time with him and vise versa. This off-season might surprise some of us

15. (tie) Atlanta (8-7). Tsk-tsk, Jim Mora.

Jim threw a microphone at a radio host on Christmas Day…. Vick must have missed the playoffs

I’m not one to pick apart his list without throwing one out there to be scrutinized, some have at it…

My Top 15

1. Seattle (13-2)
2. Indianapolis (13-2)
3. Chicago (11-4)
4. Carolina (10-5)
5. Denver (12-3)
6. New England (9-5)
7. Pittsburgh (10-5)
8. Washington (9-6)
9. Cincinnati (11-4)
10. Tampa Bay (10-5)
11. Giants (10-5)
12. Jacksonville (11-4)
13. That team in Texas (9-6)
14. Kansas City (9-6)
15. San Diego (9-6).

The Skins have gotten little respect, relatively speaking, in comparison to thes other teams that were "written off" three weeks ago. All the anti-Skins bias is really disgusting; it's reached an all-time high, in myopinion.

It does pain him! This is really getting out of hand with this guy... He seriously hates us! I wish I could sit down and talk with this moron face to face just once! I'd love for him to answer some questions.... but hey... it's just a matter of time until he realizes how wrong he is...

They lost to The Bills???

Interestingly, the Bills is the team that matches the best against Cinci. I wish I had remembered that in the Hognostications thread.

Hey! Don't you love it? The "Sleazy" peter King and Dr. having to EAT crow in their rankings week after week wiith us over the season, particularly the last four games?

The Skins are one of the top 3 teams in the NFC with Seattle and Chicago. Let them crow s spoonful at a time each week! ROTFALMAO
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Peter King just clings to the status quo for too long in making those rankings. If you've been following them all season, he kept the Eagles in for far too long (even when they were 4-6, if I remember correctly) just because they were in the Super Bowl last year, even if we all could see they were falling apart this year.

As for where the 'skins are ranked, the lower the better! Those rankings mean nothing, and if other teams overlook the 'skins, all the better!!

Now that actually makes sense! Even not being homerish and looking at his top 6 I think those are all dead on. The Pats are good but how they can be ranked #2 by Peter King is rediculous. Also, there is no way that the Giants should be ranked above us.

it's not the team

I think King doesn't like Snyder, not the team itself. By extension, he bashes the team.

I had lunch with him a year or two ago and he said that the Redskins have bright future, as long as Snyder's not the owner. Not exactly in those words, but that's what he meant.
