Patrick Who?

Post by roybus14 »

Patrick Ramsey did a great job in his limited fill-in role for Brunell. He didn't make any misktakes to hurt us today and hit Moss for a nice pass and TD. It wasn't perfect but it didn't turn into an I-n-t either. With the ground game finally starting to click, it make's it easier for Ramsey to come in to replace Brunell.

Also, it appears that Gibbs recognizes that he has two different QBs in Brunell and Ramsey. When Ramsey is in, Gibbs tends to take more shots down field with him then Brunell.

I am happy to see that guys are stepping up and filling in when called on....

I did'nt get to see Patrick play cause I walked up to the store to get more beer, but I am gald to know that he steped up to help win it for us. He is the best back up ( I think ) in the NFL right now. I have no worries if he starts next week. Thank you Skins for a wonderful year weather or not you make it all the way.

I'm convinced Ramsey was playing real well because he felt it was an audition for next season. I'm sure he wants to come in preform so other teams (like Jets, Saints, and other teams needing a QB) will trade for, or pick him up at the season's end.
Have no fear, Moss will make it happen.

Yeah, but how about Ray Brown.

I used BossHogs technique today and watched the O-Line about 50% of the time, and Ray looked great out there.

Great job today by ole Ray!

Well, there was the one play where a Giant defender came in unimpeded and just leveled Brunell for the rest of the game.
I think that was Thrash's guy to block, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, Strahan and Okeyfinokee or whatever the heck his name is were held without a sack...and they're both going to Hawaii this year.

I will say this much at this point in time,we all better hope that Ramsey can keep his act together!!!Brunell's status for next weeks game has not been released yet.We are going to be playing a weak eagles team, but we are still going to be at there house!!!!Right now I'm hoping the injury is not that serious,we need Brunell more than ever!!!Nothing against Ramsey he just hasn't had the playing time this year and we need our best q.b. for the playoffs!!Anyone else scared that Brunell might need a few weeks to get over the leg injury.

I think that this guy is the best team player we have....Gibbs has already commended him for being a great sideline coach and a huge uplift for Brunell when ever Brunell messes up....he is a great guy and if the Skins don't keep him next year, I wish him the best of luck somewhere else.... except the Cowboys, Eagles, or Giants

Brunell did some things today that Ramsey can't: that shovel to Royal, ducking a pass rusher and moving left, dashing for a first down.

But Ramsey is no slouch. I have no worries about the team if Ramsey starts next week. He's pretty good, and he ought to be around next year.

(Oh, and I don't think this was an "audition". I think it was Ramsey put into a tough spot, starting cold, playing without much first team practice, and still winning the game. The kid is a winner.)

Ramsey scares me. He wasted 2 timeouts in under 4 minutes. He came back and shined but that was very dangerous. Im not on the Patrick bandwagon just yet. I need to check the oil first.

Ramsey did his job well. It's tough to get into a game this big and have very little preparation. He handled it and if needed will be there next week. He's not going to lose or win the game, he will have very good support from the other 10. Brunell is the better leader, Ramsey's a better than adequate back-up.

I also think he's going to be here next year - I would be very surprised if we don't have all 3 QBs here again.

We are in a great situation - we are playing the last game of the season and if we win we will be in the playoffs. Most everyone here would never have believed that scenario at the begining of this season and even more had declared the season over 4 games ago.

This has not been just a better season than last it has been a huge step towards the great team we deserve.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'm with you CLL ... but what I did not like to see is people chanting "We want Campbell" after the 2nd timeout. I wanted to say to them "The guy just got thrown in there with no 1rst team work Give him a break!!" I was pissed that they were quick to want to give him the hook. I was especially pleased that the next play was the TD pass to Moss which gave Ramsey the much needed confidence in order to settle him down.

I don't think that you can really blame Ramsey for those two timeouts. On the first one, Sellars was standing on the sideline instead of in the huddle so we only had 10 men on the field. That's not Ramsey's fault....nothing he can do about it. The second timeout was a little less clear but it seemed to me that Antonio Brown was confused and forgot to go in motion. They said on postgame radio that if they had snapped the ball it would've resulted in an illegal formation penalty.

I feel just as comfortable with Ramsey as with Brunell. Each has his strengths and weaknesses. Patrick isn't as mobile and wouldn't have been able to run for that long first down or come up with that shovel pass. However, his arm is far superior to Brunell's and no way do we complete that 3rd td pass to Moss if Brunell is still in the game. Even that 2nd td that Brunell threw to Moss was underthrown but Moss adjusted well and made a great play on it. Ramsey's arm strength also really helps out on those wr screens that we love to run so much. He can get the ball in there so much quicker than Brunell can which means less of a chance of it being tipped. And lastly I love Ramsey's energy and enthusiasm on the field. He gets so pumped up and really seems to care about winning. Ramsey has also had a lot of time to better learn the system and get comfortable in it. None of his throws today came close to being picked and all of his decisions appeared to be sound. So whether it's Ramsey or Brunell that starts next week I feel confident that either one can lead us to victory and to our first playoff appearance since '99. GO SKINS!! BRING ON PHILLY!!

I do hold my breath when Brunell throws the screen, it seems to take forever to get there. The one against Dallas was close to getting picked, but resulted in a td for us.

Ramsey proved yesterday that he is the "ultimate" professional and did a good job in relief. Our staple is the run, so in order for any of our QBs to do well, we must establish the run. If Brunell can't go next week and the running game "punches" Philly in the mouth, then we will be fine with Ramsey.

Even with Brunell in, if our running game is on, then he is on because it opens options down field.

Like I said before, Gibbs knows that he has two different QBs and will call the game according to who is in. Ramsey in, more run and downfield plays; Brunell in, more run and short stuff with the occassional bomb.....

As welch can attest, I was a bit apprehensive with Ramsey coming in to relieve Mark, but I admit, he showed me that he's bought into Joe's philosophies, and he was able to finish the game. He looked a little outta synch, and a bit rusty, but, thankfully, he showed his true character over the entire season, by preparing as though he were gonna start every week. That was evident yesterday. Thank you, Patrick. =D>

Patrick handed-off real well...it was a good game for him to come into because he didn't HAVE to throw the ball; didn't have to face an all-out blitz. I'll add my thanks to him too, and I'm sure it helped his confidence. We'll need him, as Philly will want to spoil our party...

Wait a minute!! What's wrong with this picture? Are you saying you left the game to get more beer and didn't get to see Ramsey play the rest of the game? From what I remember, the game was still quite competitive when Ramsey came in and connected with Santana Claus!

I like beer as much as the next person, but I'm not so sure I would have left to get more of it at that time.

Hey SkinsCanes, don't come around here making perfect sense and stealing all the hate away from Patrick Ramsey :0). Neither time-out his fault? EXACTAMUNDO!

Frankly, we're going to kick Philly no matter who's at QB. The Skins D is on FIRE! I'm very proud of Ramsey for being professional enough to be prepared and ready. We've sure seen our share of guys not ready to be QB's - certainly not the case with Ramsey.

All that said, I wish no ill will to Brunell and hope he's able to play for eveyone's sake. My guess is - Patrick feels the same way. Ramsey's tough, a team player and a talented QB - still he's hated by multiple posters here for some reason.

Me too! I love Ramsey and Brunell. I support whoever is the QB of the Redskins. Right now that is Brunell with Ramsey as the back-up and Campbell getting ready to be our future starter.

I would expect the QB situation to remain the same until Brunell loses Gibbs support and at that time Gibbs will make Ramsey or Cambell the starter based on who he thinks gives us the best chance to win. It also is important with Gibbs' teams to have the "proper" leadership at this position and that needs to be addressed at that time also.

Right now, Ramsey is doing a fantastic job as the back-up QB and will only benefit by getting more reps this week if Brunell is not ready.

i still have faith in Ramsey, i think he can easily start next week, and produce good numbers and lead us to a win. As a matter of fact we should give brunell a lil rest b4 the playoffs.

Just for the record, everything here closes,at the latest, around 10p.m. Keep in mind that I am 6 hours
ahead of you guys.So...A) watch game but no beer.
or B) waste 5 min. to get to store, have beer and spend the night explaining to my non-redskins fan guests why the skins deserve to go all the way this year as they see frist hand how good this team is with a 35 to 20 victory.
P.S. I also have to stay up till 3a.m. to watch Monday night games.....so that does not mean that I am not a skins fan if I go get beer.
