I'm not convinced sitting on the bench watching does much to help a QB's progress. Look at C. Palmer in Cincy - he spent a year on the bench "learning", but still struggled when he was finally made the starter. It's only this year (his third year in the NFL and his second as the starter) that's he really begun to blossom. I think the only thing which really gets a college QB ready for the NFL is playing in NFL games, and unless the guy is the second coming of Montana, he's going to struggle at first. Look at Brees out in SD and Manning up there in NY - they definitely needed game time to polish their game. Campbell's likely going to be the same way - he's going to struggle at first. I just wonder about the timing of it all - a QB taking his first season of starts is likely not going to be much help for a team gearing up for a Super Bowl run, like the 'skins are in the next few years.
Right now, Campbell is displaying very good bench presence and is learning the idiosyncrasies of ear pieces.
He has been given much praise lately as he had quickly developed his own clipboard holding style. Coaches say it allows him to review previous plays sent down from the coaches box in a speedier fashion.
He's progressing along quite nicely if you ask me.

I understand your opinion that playing in NFL games helps to make a QB better, but if you don't think Carson Palmer started blossoming until this year, you gotta be nuts. If I remember correctly, he had a couple of nice plays lastyear against OUR washington Redskins.

A couple of nice plays does not equal a good season. He wasn't horrible last year, but when Aaron Brooks has a better passer rating, you're not that great. Now this year is a different story; Palmer is definitely taking off as a QB.

die cowboys die wrote:the Big Big question at this point is, if brunell shows signs of improving to early 2005 form, do we really consider starting him AGAIN next year? or do we believe that he won't last the whole season anyway, so may as well get going with campbell, or even ramsey?
Well you know what they say about people who assume.

If we can get a 1st or 2nd rounder for Patrick ship him off. If not then keep him till the end of his contract.
Evaluate Brunell in the offseason if he's healthy than he starts. Hurt Brunell ='s crying redskin fans.
Jason needs to move up to the 2nd spot behind Brunell next offseason. I say give him the green light by the 3rd year.
The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!
