Keep Gregg Williams

Post by Gibbs4Life »

Aik and Buck certainly talked him up to any potential nfl teams that would steal him from us. After the season Snyder and Joe should sit him down and make him an offer he can't refuse. TODAY WAS AWESOME!!!!

I assume that Snyder and Gibbs have already sealed the deal with Williams. GW coaches defense until Gibbs retires. Then Gibbs moves up to team president and GW coaches.

That way GW takes over a team that he and Gibbs have built into winners. Why go off and coach a rebuilding project?

The last 3 weeks our OFFENSIVE MVP has been number 77 Randy "shoulda been pulled at halftime" Thomas, we would need no player more next week than this cat, now they are saying his season is done, what a blow, but we still must carry on and BEAT NY!!! Whatever it takes.

Where are some of these thoughts coming from? There has been enough input (from a lot of people that seem to know what is going on) that we are most likely going to have both Williams and Gibbs as coaches for the next few years.

We have a lot of people here who are not paying attention to the people here at THN [-X and quoting people like Aikman and anyone else on TV or in the media about what is going to happen here.

STOP this drivel! If anyone with a "STAFF" or "MODERATOR" tag lets you know something to do with our team then it is possibly fact otherwise please do not waste our time with this unsubstantiated BS from anyone in the media. They do not know what is happening and make up most of the stuff that comes out of their mouths anyway.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

All I know is that our D-Line was getting pressure. Daniels had 4 sacks in one game. GW is getting our defense fired up

Don't forget to give credit where it's due. Greg Blache really has these guys doing very well. When our starting 4some can play together, we're absolutely fierce.

If Snyder and Gibbs have got the commitment from Williams which I don't think they have but those who have posted seem to think so, then why doesn't Gregg come out and say "I am withdrawing my name from consideration for nfl head coaching positions, I am a Redskin and I want to stay a Redskin." To answer my own question: Obviously mr. Williams is likely to recieve a very very financially rewarding offer this off-season to be "the guy" somewhere and come the offseason I'll be worried about retaining our DefCoord. Keeping the Dstaff intact is why we've been better this year I think.

I assume he wants to keep his options open, should someone offer him $10 mil to coach elsewhere. But when it is all said and done, I think he wants to take over the 'Skins after Gibbs.

i think the way the end of this season is shaping up is a big factor in williams wanting to stay. right now, he's got a team that's on the brink of being very good, and competing for a championship. he's being paid handsomely, he has complete control over the defense.

why would he give that up to coach a detroit or tennessee? to have to start over? i just don't see it. i'd be very surprised if he doesn't quietly say 'thanks but no thanks' to interview offers.

i'd also be surprised if snyder doesn't growl 'hands off' to the other owners in his own subtle way.

G-Will ain't going no where. That was the arangement before he signed on. He would be the head coach when Gibbs left after a MAX of 5 years.

From Mike Wise's A Williams Exit Would Be Well Planned

So Williams has two more regular season games left in which to showcase that controlled mayhem of a defense that has made him and Gibbs look almost golden again. He's almost certainly gone, for all the right reasons. The question won't be how to say no. The question is, will he leave the cupboard bare?

I don't know how accurate this article really is, since he doesn't cite even an anynomous source. I would have to think Williams wouldn't leave for a Houston after his experience in Buffalo, but I don't see how he could turn down a job like Kansas City.

I really hope we can hold on to him, or at least the assistant coaches. The last thing this franchise needs is more turnover. That said, it doesn't look good.

This is pure speculation by Wise. I don't think Williams has even made a decision on what he will do if he is offerred a good head coaching opportunity.

A Williams Exit Would Be Well Planned..

There are 3 big mistakes here:
1) Mike Wise is not
2) Washington Post
3) Coach Williams & "exit"
This is a waste of our time but we should try and help some of the fans here who continue to place any "truth" to the media.
I know that I keep saying this but please - this is a crtical week and some are still bringing up this trash?

It is not accurate - these guys cannot get anything right!

Only the staff and moderators of this webstie are qualified to tell me what is true? Maybe you need somebody to filter all the information the media gives us, but I think I'll stick to using my own brain.

If Gregg Williams is offered the Kansas City position, why would he stay? What does Washington offer that Kansas City doesn't? The Chiefs have every bit the fan support and tradition of the Redskins, and Williams wouldn't have to wait three years for the chance to get started. He's from Missouri, and Kansas City already has a solid talent base. What more could a Head Coach want?

I'm not sure why you dismiss everything you don't want to believe as garbage, but something tells me it has to do with burgundy-colored glasses.

I have to admit that I am very concerned about Williams leaving at the end of the season.

I definitely hope that he one day succeeds Coach Gibbs here, but I think it's very likely that he would leave to be a head coach if Houston or Kansas City came calling.

Can you really blame him?
