Official civil Cowboys thread

Post by BossHog »

I figure I'll save everyone the time and energy of having to read all of the rhetoric all over the board that the Cowboys week inevitibly brings.

So I'm setting up two threads.... one in smack for people to sound off... and this one... for rational discussion of this week's match-up.

Use one or the other please.

Well I'm sure everyone was thinking of the cowpukes at the end of the 4th yesterday. We got a tough matchup. I think it's more tough for us cuz they know how to play us better than anyone else. If we wanna come out on top, well then we have to be perfect on both sides of the ball. That's it... on offense they have glenn playing so well and drew putting up 300 yards like it's nothing, then we have julius jones and barber to worry about now. Personally, I think Rogers and Springs can shut out the WR's... It's our D Line that'll have to put pressure on the QB so that our LB's can cover the middle and help out in other areas more, the pukes arent just a passing or just a running team, they are kinda like us, they can do it both. IMO it'll come down to defense and who can make the most turnovers, I see Sean Taylor being the gamebreaker and winning this for us with some serious run stops and two picks! Also from what I recall las time we met, our run game was not so impressive, We need Portis and Betts to help us control the game with solid first down runs, I dont want to always have to rely on a pass on 3rd and 2. If we can get some more outside runs with CP and Sellers clearing they way, we can control the game well.

Those Cowboys seem to be "charmed" these days. They are pulling a lot of games out of their collective hats and winning them lately. This does not bode well for the Redskins. Hopefully, we'll change that course of events next week and, dare I say it, ***SWEEP THE COWBOYS***!!!

Drew throwing for 300 a game?? He threw for 300 last game, game before that against the Giants he barely broke 100...calm down people...its Drew Bledsoe, Keyshawn and Jone, not Aikman, Irivn and Emmitt.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

Those players down in Texas are a formidable foe, and I think our guys will have to play their best to win Sunday's match.

It's going to be a tough one, that's for sure. The win in Dallas was sweet, but didn't eradicate the pain these guys have inflicted on us over the last few years. I've got two friends who are Cowboys fans (we try not to talk about football), and it's about time that bragging rights changed hands for the offseason.

The way to win the game? Stop making dumb mistakes, and run the ball all day long. Trouble is, I doubt that a Parcells team will let us run all day, so the D will end up having to keep it tight again while they wait for the offence to make enough plays in the passing game to win it. They'll be terrified of Moss, so somebody else must step up to take advantage of the attention he'll be getting. Are you listening, Taylor Jacobs?

Sweeping Dallas would be the ultimate consolation prize if we are unable to get into the playoffs. Remember how much this game means to Gibbs. He will work extra long hours this week getting ready. I like that it is a home game and our crowd should be a factor. We need a lead in this game to build momentum...don't want to have to come from behind again.

Now I know everyone knows that this is a big game, but I don't think some people know how big this game really is.

Right now Dallas is 8-5 and I believe they are in the wildcard lead. We are at 7-6.

If we lose this game, we lose our season. But if we win this game, check this out...

We would be 8-5, and Dallas would be 8-5. But then we would have won both the meetings, which would put us in the Wildcard presumeably.

However, the killer is since we lost to Tampa, if our record is tied with theirs, they get in because they beat us.

So basically we need to win this game, no matter how ugly it is.

You'd have to win out with the Giants losing another game aside from yours.

Wo needs a great game?

Post by Redskins2k5 »

We know that the game against the Cowboys will be a tough one like the one in week 2( 8) ). So is the game on Brunell or Portis for us to win?

I say Brunell we can't afford 3 picks like against the Cards.
Portis though will need a 100 yard game.

Yes, Wo will definately need to have a big game. I would say he needs to get at least 100 yards rushing and 2 tds for us to win.

Seriously, Portis and the o-line will have to dominate for us to win against dallas. I suspect they will load the box to try and stop him, which will hopefully open things up for something down the field.

i think portis will explode for 130+ and 2 tds, much like agasint the rams...he has been hearing the overrated type stuff all season (ESPN showed a poll of players in the league that said he was the number 3 overrated back in the nfl...hard when your peers dont respect you?) and he is bound to explode again in a huge game like this one...look for it to be kind of like a bears win this season, GREAT defense, awesome running game, just enough in the passing game to win and keep our playoff hopes alive...brunell throwing some great passes and touchdowns wouldnt hurt either...

who else needs a great game--WE DO...the fans need to be out there in full force, someone nedes to scream extra loud for me, i cant even watch much of the game on sunday...i have to coach my basketball team at 3:45 (til about 5) and then i have to play at 6:30...please please please make sure that you guys are out htere in full force!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that everyone understands how big this game is going to be for both teams!!!The thing that scares the hell out of me,is that B. Parcels is going to have the boys fired up!!!You must not forget that we ruined the Cowboys induction of three of there great players(only two if you ask me)in week three!!!We totally messed there big night up!!!(thank you gibbs!!)The point is that we need to match that emotion and not get fooled, just like in the giants game!!Everthing is at stake for both teams!!The playoffs, pride and revenge has got to be in the minds of the cowpukes players!!!I know that both teams are going to grind it out on the ground, but special teams and who can pass the best will decide this one!!!
