Wildcard My Butt
I don't want to worry about the wildcard. I want the NFC East baby!
If the Chiefs can beat the Giants and we beat the Cowboys next week, then will we control our own destiny? If we then win out and end up having the same record as the Giants, we'll have the same conference record at 5-1. Would it then go to our NFC record (we would win) or would it go to who won the "point battle" in our games together. Anyone know out there?

Yeah, but first we need to actually win the games.
I think the guys were drinking the Redskin
-Aide and came out today like they were going to win 50-0 by not trying. (just take Dockery's comments for example)
I know this is Dallas so we will be a littler more pumped up, but we can't rely on other teams losing, we need to win.

Sorry, but that dream does not seem to happen. The Cowboys just beat the Chiefs.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."

I'm with you...I want to watch a playoff game in the cold with 12 pack in my system at FED EX...we really...really need the Giants to lose, but we really need more from Brunell...the offense is in place, but he has to run it a little better.
If not:
Atlanta plays (Tampa, Chicago, and Carolina)
Minessota plays (Pittsburgh, Chicago)
All we need is these two teams to drop one of those games....in other words...we win out and as long as Atl and Min don't win out...we're in.

We are going to have better than the EMBARRASSING garbage that we played in the first half today. Other than the Giants loss, this was the WORST game of the season so far.
Any decent team would have killed us. We won and that keeps our hopes. But if they play like that against ANY other team from now on, we are dead.

It's funny how we suck against teams that are not as good as us. Maybe it's the fact that they don't take the game as seriously as they would if they were playing a playoff caliber team. That seems highly unorthodox coming out of a JGibbs lead team, though.
The performance against the Raiders and now this? A win is a win, but this was a terrible game offensively.
I think I want to be the underdog from now on!

We've gotta take the next three. Whipping the boys, gints and eggles would be a great season wrap up - and a division title. The Gmen and boyx are going to lose at least 2 of their next three each... we'd take the division and have a home game vs. the weaker Wild Card...
Hey, it could happen. Wonder what kinda odds I can get?

when i saw this thread title, i assumed it was going to be along the lines of "wildcard my butt- a team that performs as embarassingly as we did today against a vastly inferior opponent doesn't belong anywhere near the playoffs". i really don't know how this game is supposed to give anyone confidence in the abilities of our football team.
the playcalling was mostly atrocious as usual. brunell threw for only 122 yards, no TDs, and THREE INTs. that is absolutely abysmal. 2 of the INTs he literally threw it RIGHT to the other team- IN THE FRICKIN' ENDZONE!!!. and please don't tell me "he won the game, didn't he?". no. he almost single-handedly gave the game away several times. the only reason we escaped without another humiliating loss was antonio brown's awesome kickoff return for TD.

If we win out, we WILL win the division and subsequently kick some serious ass in the playoffs. I can guarantee it. We shouldn't be thinking about that though, just focus on Dallas. A lot of yall are underestimating what three more games is. Dallas and NYG promise to be tough ones, and I wouldn't exactly mark off the Eagles either even though I'm pretty sure we'll beat them.
Winning the NFC EAST
I stopped thinking about the wild card and I know it is
pre-emptive but I think our best chance to make the playoffs is to win the division
All we have to do is win out and KC take care of business against the Giants.....but apparently they can only do that against us

if we get to 10-6 we should be in no matter what, we'd be ahead of dallas and the tiebreaker with other NFC teams is your record vs. the NFC, we are 7-2 which is better than anyone ... basically for us to be 10-6 and not get in the vikings would have to win vs. Pittsburgh, @Baltimore, and vs Chicago AND the falcons would have to win vs. Saints, @Chicago, @Tampa, and vs. Carolina ... AND carolina would have to only lose once (that game to the falcons) ... we just have to take care of our own business

Then its probably a good thing your not coaching our team?

you're right. i don't know the first thing about coaching an nfl team. but as far as that goes, niether do you.DCGloryYears828791 wrote:hailskins666 wrote:we won't get in at wildcard. the nfcs is too strong at this point. both wildcards will be from the south. i personally don't think this team is ready to take the step to win the division.

whatever there glory-boy. this thread wasn't about dallas, its about the playoffs. you tell me why you think the skins will make it, and i'll tell you why they won't... turnovers. the situation is not getting any better. this is our main problem, and it obviously hasn't been fixed. it happens every week. not to mention, brunell has been looking really sloppy as of late. this team has to play football like we haven't seen yet, to make it to the post season. what makes you think that we have decided to open a can of whoop ass on the rest of the division with only 3 weeks to go?Its Dallas week stop all the negativity. amen! er, what's the 666y equivalent of "amen"?

they better take care of buisness these last three weeks if there is going to be any playoffs.
dallass is sunday and thats the game they should be focused on this week and this week alone.
from what i,m seeing there are too many giveaways not enough takeaways for this team to run the table but i guess we will have to wait and see th next 3 weeks.
simply put win and your in ,lose and the season,s over for any playoffs possibilities.

Glory boy? you must have spent awhile trying to figure that out. The name calling is a bit childish, but let me explain my stance Skins devil lover. If we don't make it to the playoffs then we don't make it. Its garbage fans who always look for the bad in what we do then to look at the overall positive, that we won the game. Fact of the matter is, we are one game better than last year with three to go. Coming from a losing tradition the past 6 years, this has been a step forward. So go ahead and tell me everything negative about OUR team and I will simply respond that my belief comes from hope, hope in Joe Gibbs and the team he has assembled. Go ahead and make fun of me again and try to negate anything that we've done to this point. Better yet, save your typing and just hope for a skins win this weekend, because no matter how ugly a win is, a win is win. We are not the COlts thats for damn sure, but we are nowhere near the abismal team you seem to portray us as.
That being said...........Go SKINS!! GO BRUNELL!! HAIL TO ALL THE REAL SKINS FANS!!

sorry, but that is the kind of attitude that only belongs in an organization full of losers like the Cardinals. the redskins have a tradition of glory, as you clearly know by your name! "sucking less" or even being "ok" is not a reason to be happy with the team.
...no matter how ugly a win is, a win is win.
that is also the mentality of a loser team- they are just glad they got out of there alive with a W, who cares about how embarassing their performance was? this is exactly what Jake Plummer said after the denver game earlier this year-- you know, the one that they only "won" because of:
* putzier's insanely illegal block in the back that caused bell's 2nd TD
*plummer's pathetic fumble in the endzone and the safety it caused, which were nullified by an INCORRECT application of a rule that is complete BS even when called correctly
*countless other horrible calls by the refs, including portis's long run called back on a phantom hold, no-calls on pass interference when our player was so terribly violated he had to go to a rape clinic after the game, etc etc etc.
after that game, plummer, knowing he deserved to lose, shamefully said "at the end of the year, you just remember that it was a win, you don't think about what kind of game it was". you are putting yourself in league with this pathetic loser by making a comment like this, sharing that attitude.
HAIL TO ALL THE REAL SKINS FANS!!
this statement is the reason i don't give a crud about being civil to you. people like you piss me off. everyone here (except maybe a few trolls) are not only redskins fans, but passionate redskins fans. why else would we bother to sign up for a fan site and spend hours reading and typing posts? for you to implicitly state that you are a "real fan" because you are unrealistically positive, compared to us realistically pessimistic fans, is pathetic. grow up. do something with your life so you don't feel you have to prove your superiority in such an idiotic way.

Hey, no matter the poor performance here and there, we've played a pretty tough schedule, and this team could EASILY be 10-3 right now with a two game lead and 3 to play.
The fact is, we've beaten the Cowboys and Eagles already, so we can do it again. And the Giants?? Don't think for a moment that our guys aren't gonna be looking to kick some Giants ass at home.
The key is Dallas. We beat Dallas, and this team is on it's way.
