No. 2 Receiver? Look for the Off-season.

Post by redskinsranger »

We all know about Santana, he's playmaking ability, speed, whatever. Santana is our new playmaker, our new toy, another go-to-guy, but what about when he's covered and Portis can't get it the wheels turning. Yes, we have Cooley who has proved to be another go-to-guy, but we keep things short and hard hitting with him.

I'm thinking in the off-season we should find another guy that was in a Santana-esque postion. A guy everyone knows can make plays when he gets the ball, not too expensive, and very underestimated. Is there a list of FA Receivers that will be, haha, Free next season. If so, please tell me your thoughts on who and why...

No offense to Thrash, no offense to Patten, but there's just something missing, and they don't have it...

I'll look for a list but one name that comes to mind is Reggie Wayne. The guy is a flat-out stud and if the Colts don't resign him and we can afford his salary then I think he would be a great addition. The problem with getting a decent WR this offseason is that this is arguably one of the worst ever WR drafts. And since there aren't a lot of good receivers to be had in the draft, a lot of teams are going to be looking for free agent wideouts.

Well if it makes you feel any better last year was supposedly a "good WR draft" with Mike Williams, Braylon Edwards, Mark Clayton, Matt Jones, Troy Williamson, and others...well we see how that turned out.

There are probably a lot of good WR coming out...USC has a nice Tall one, and so does Notre Dame...either of those two may fall to the second round.

I see your point but it usually takes a WR about 2-3 years to really start producing in the NFL. All those receivers that you mentioned have a lot of talent, but they have ended up in bad situations. Williams is stuck with the Detroit qb nightmare, Edwards was starting to really play well before he got hurt, and Jones has actually put togehter a pretty solid season for a qb turned wr. The thing with this year's class is that nobody really stands out talent wise. The wr you mentioned from USC is Dwayne Jarrett and the guy is 6'5 and a total beast.....but he's a sophmore and has atleast one more year of college in his future. Hopefully we can find a good receiver in the later rounds but I think that our best bet at upgrading at that position would be through free agency.

I think anyone of these guys would be an upgrade, I do however see Gibbs giving Patten every opportunity to come back strong, but I'll take Joe J, David Boston, or Randel El right now for DPAT.

Eric Moulds might end up being available, unless he makes up with the Bills. Without considering the money, cap,...etc. It would be pretty sweet to have him opposite Santana.

Charles Rogers is having his problems in Detroit also. A slight substance abuse problem, but look at how Koren Robinson is doing for the Vikes. My 2 cents

Good Lord, 1niksder, do you keep all these lists somewhere in your head, or in the nightstand next to your bed, or what? I mean, great job, but damn, you scare me sometimes.

About Reggie Wayne: is he really that good or just benefitting from playing with Manning and opposite Harrison? Its really hard to tell with those guys.

I don't see how the Colts can bring him back next year and still resign Edge.

I like Brandon Lloyd alot. He's been making plays for a crappy team for a couple years now.

Beat me to it. Laugh!

Oh and no way Reggie Wayne comes here. He will want money, and I'm pretty sure he wants to become a #1 receiver. He won't get that here.

Jeremy Urban is pretty good from Seattle. He is going to get caught up in the numbers game anyways. They will keep Jerevicious. He will also come cheap and the best thing, he's 6'3 212 lbs.

Not before major Defensive Line overhaul.

I EXPECT the first 3 picks to be D-Line.

David Boston and Nate Burleson are two good receivers who have had down years this year. We could grab either one of those two for a bargain price.

I just wonder how our cap situation looks, though.

Another guy who is only 5' 8" no thank you. Although it would be cool we would just have to use Sinorice Moss as kick returner instead of his athletic and physical equal Antonio Brown.

David Boston doesn't belong on our team. When he was in SD he got suspended b/c he got his nipples pierced and when they hit him in practice he got into a fight. And when he was in Miami he got injured but came back out of shape and couldn't cut it. Nate Burleson is a way better option.

Nate Burleson would be perfect, he is tall, physical, good hands and fast. Great No. 2 wideout to Moss

My only question is will he want to be the #1 receiver where ever he goes? I am thinking yes. Also, I think Minny will resign him.
