How many of you thought........

Washington Football Game Day discussions for 2003, 2004, and 2005

After that safety, who thought the Skins were gonna let another one get away.

Ok, I admit it. I did have that fleeting thought.

But Fitz was not in the Endzone when MW began tackling him.
What if he was at the 5 and MW picked him up and tossed him in the endzone?
That would not be a saftey either.
If Fitz had starting running backwards then maybe it would have been a saftey.

I understand what you're saying but the play was blown dead when the ball was in the endzone. Im sitting here watching the footage over and over. Fitzy's body from the waist up was on/across the goaline. The ball was tucked into his body so by rule thats a safety or am I wrong? In regards to a TD as soon as the ball touches the plane its a TD. Wouldn't the same hold true for a safety?

How does someone who is moving backwards get forward progress? Is it at the point when defender touches them? His knee was just ever so shy of the goal line, and his entire upper body was across the plane. Additionally, the point where he was hit was inside the 1 yard line, so even if that bass ackwards non-logic about forward progress of someone who is sprinting backwards holds, the spot was very generous.

But he wasn't moving backwards, he was just standing there.
I think if Washington thought it was a saftey, he would have been jumping around more then he usually does.

Have to admit I had dark thoughts about the Rams scoring a TD and getting the two pointer. This team makes me nervous every week.

I have to disagree. The refs have blown so many calls that Washington just knew they were going to blow this one too. I'm sure he was happy about knocking the crap out of Fitz, but he knew the refs weren't going to call it what it was.

I hope they look at this play again on Total Access tonight. I really want to hear what his excuse is for this one.

For some reason I had a good feeling about this game. I didnt watch on purpose but watched the updates on nfl network channel. I must admit I crossed my fingers at the seven min fourth quarter mark.

When MW sacked Fitz, the crowd went really quiet and two other skins' fans in my section and I jumped up and SCREAMED. I actually got the, "Sit down and shut up!". By the end of the game I was just smilin' while the guy that told me that left early. The sack was a confidence booster for us that we could shut down the O, and the Rams were shakin' in their boots. IT was a good play, no safety needed. Although it would have been nice. ;)
