How many of you thought........

Washington Football Game Day discussions for 2003, 2004, and 2005

After that safety, who thought the Skins were gonna let another one get away.

Ok, I admit it. I did have that fleeting thought.

How many of you thought........

Post by Justice Hog »

Okay, we're winning by 10 points. Brunell steps back, fumbles the ball into the endzone and the Rams get a "safety" and 2 points.

Now...give me your honest answer.

How many of you, all-of-the-sudden pictured the Rams finding some way to score a TD, get the 2 point conversion, sending the game into O.T., where the Redskins would find a way, yet again to lose another heartbreaker.

Come on......be honest.

Didja think it....even for a second?

1 out of 5.

Four (from now on)in a row or we don't go!

I didn't think for once we were going to lose after that play.

I'll admit it.

I was a little frustrated but I felt like we'd win with our first defensive stand.
"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."

I laughed my way thru the game. Check out all the "lol's" in the gameday forum. I didn't think we were going to lose but I did think we were going to fall into a lull again.

Nope, not me.

I knew that was just a fluke, plus, when the Rams fumbled I knew we had the game.

Besides the 2nd Quarter, I was really confindent we were going to win this game.

Read the fifth quarter tomorrow and you will see that I started it off with a quote from Yogi Berra: "It's like deja vu all over again."

I think had the Rams recovered for a TD I'd gooten worried. Brunell made a quick heads up "right" play!

Yup. The thought entered my mind.

Until the Rams fumbled.

I liked the analogy that the Redskins paid 2 points to gain 50 yards of field position.

While watching at the bar, after the Redskins recovered the Rams fumble....I promptly shouted out for all to hear.

Yes, that was Brunell's master plan. Give them the safety.....punt it....then jump on a fumble to dramatically improve our field position....leading to a TD!!

Most just laughed at me....but I know the real secret.

That was the master plan of Joe Gibbs all along!

In all truthfulness, the thought never had a chance to cross my mind. I missed a flight back from Detroit, and was stuck at DTW until late in the game. I got back to Dulles in time to see the final pick, long after the fumble ocurred.
Back and better than ever!

I was worried... I was at the game sitting in the corner of the same endzone where Brunell fumbled. What really worried me was there was a pretty long timeout with the penalty and change of possession prior to that play... during the whole timeout Tinoisamoa #50 for the Rams was walking around sideline to sideline getting the fans fired up and loud, then for some reason Randy Thomas decided to mock Tinoisamoa and the fans and he started raising his hands like he was trying to get the crowd fired up... this just ticked off the fans in the back of the endzone and they stood up and started screaming at the 'Skins huddle... I was thinking to myself Randy Thomas better hope they get out of this whole without doing something stupid... sure enough, Brunell fumbled and the crowd went into a frenzy, and I was thinking here we go again, the Rams have no business being in this game and we just gave them a way back in... Randy Thomas walked off the field with egg all over his face...

I was just pissed that they got a safety because we had ours taken away earlier in the game.

Nobody that was playing (or coaching) that game that had anything to do with the Washington Redskins had any thought but, that we were going to win that game. There is not a doubt in my mind about that fact!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I actually thought Brunell did a really smart thing by knocking it out of the end-zone. And I wasn't too concerned. The turnover afterwards helped a lot, however.

He was sacked on the 1 yard line. It wasn't a safety. Officials sometimes get calls right.

I dunno, if you look at the play again it seems that the ball was over the line. His knee wasn't in the endzone but Im pretty sure the ball crossed the plane which ='s a safety, right?

The forward progress is broken in Madden. Madden for this current/past generation counts the ball where you knee goes down.

OK madden was a bad example.
But Fitz was not in the Endzone when MW began tackling him.
What if he was at the 5 and MW picked him up and tossed him in the endzone?
That would not be a saftey either.
If Fitz had starting running backwards then maybe it would have been a saftey.
