Randy Thomas

Post by hkHog »

This guy is really beginning to develop into the player people thought he could become. IMO, he is easily the best player on our o-line.

He clearly LOVES Buges blocking schemes when he has a chance to get out in the open field and just run some people over on stretch plays and screens. What a beast, on the first Portis TD run he not only blocked but actually flattened three Rams knocking them to the turf.

He is starting to impress me more and more each week. This guy is awesome. If the rest of the o-line could run block like he has been Portis would rush for 150 every game.

Didn't we recently have a thread about how RThomas sucks? Didn't some of us want him to return to the J-E-T-S Jets?
It's a wonder how we change due to just one block.

Well, I'm not basing it on just that. He has looked good over the last few games and I am always impressed by his open field blocking. He looks to be starting to really hit his stride (and opposing defensive players too).

I think Thomas is steady, doesn't make a ton of mistakes from penalties, but he does have a tendancy to get pushed back at the line of scrimmage. He was the highest paid guard in the league 2 years ago, not sure he has played to that level but he sure beats the Kip Vickers, Larry Moore, or the end of his career Tre Johnson.

Right now, I'm happy with Thomas, Jansen and (despite the one bad holding call vs. SD) Rabach.

I don't know what happened but #60 has been quite pedestrian for the majority of the season.

jansen - satisfied
thomas - satisfied
dockery - cut
samuels - not playing up to his paycheck. that doesn't mean bas but i expect. maybe if we can shore up the LG position it'll help out mr. sammels.

Once again ...you're in my mind bro ... DD should be run out of town on a rail. He should be paying us to play.

Samuels should be benched if we had an alternative. Unfortunately our OT depth sucks.

Neither Jansen or Samuels is earning their keep in my opinion. But they are worth keeping. Dockery is as good as GONE baby...ship him to the Pukes where Fat out of shape, immobile lineman have a place.

I'm pretty sure that this O-Line doesn't have to worry about comparisions to Buges' old ones.
At best, they're average. At worst, well...

You have to remember that Jansen has been playing alot of this season with casts on his thumbs.

I understand that and I commend his toughness, but if you can't perform consistently then you shouldn't be out there. He's been pretty decent in run blocking, but pass protection he's struggled, partly I think because he can't use his hands as well as he would like...guys like Jared Allen, Derrick Burgess, and Umenyora made the pro-bowl ballot off of Jansen...2 sacks each I believe.

I can agree with that, I had forgotten about the KC game when Jared Allen dominated him. I also agree Samuels needs to step up or ship out, he's way too inconsistent
