Field position and Derrick Frost
I hope that Derrick Frost can get his act together and start punting for more than thirty yards!!!The last two games his had some not so good punts that gave the opponents good field position.I wonder if we will ever see "Tupa" again or is he to old, and is his injury going to be the end for him?

i think our punter situation is slowly turning into our kicker situation from a few years ago, when we had to bring eddie murray back for a tryout because we were so thin at the positition.
IMO andy groom would have been worth keeping, after all he has a monster leg and just didnt show it in the first 2 games he played. now we're being forced to go with the guy who short-legs every punt...ever notice how he doesnt explode through?
hopefully he'll get his stuff together and give us a couple of boomers.

Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

I think Frost has to go. Thank god he's the luckiest kicker on the planet because if it weren't for 20-yard bounces, his kicks would be Theismann-like.
The thing that hasn't been mentioned about Frost is that he is pathetically inconsistent. You can see the punt team has NO IDEA how to pursue down field because they have no idea if it's going to be a 40-yard punt, a 20-yard punt with a 20-yard bounce, or a 50-yarder (into the end zone for a touchback).
His net gains are awful, and if the bounces ever stop going his way, we may actually end up with a deficit punt.
I think he's a liability and that we're fortunate that he hasn't DIRECTLY lost us a game yet.... he costs us field position every game IMO.

But he was named the ST player of the week in an Exclusive Article in the THH this week! (trouble maker
)

Redskins Players of the Game: Raiders
Special Teams: Derrick Frost
Frost tied a career high with 3 punts downed inside the 20. Of those 3 punts, the Raiders average starting field position was about the 9 yard line.
Most of Frost’s solid punting came in the first half. As the offense became more anemic, Frost was forced to punt from deep in Redskins territory, giving the Raiders better starting field position. Despite that, only one punt resulted in a Raiders return in Redskin territory.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Just because I posted it for junior, doesn't mean I agree with it.
Yeah! I do not know what those impostors at THH were talking about.

I picked him because he actually controlled the 3 punts that went inside the 20 instead of booting them out of the endzone like he usually does.

Frost must go.
Watching him at the game, instead of kicking thru the ball, his leg only goes up to neck
level. I AM CONVINCED I COULD DO BETTER!!!!
Hey Danny, give me $500.00 per game and lower level tix for my family and I'll improve on your kicking game.......
just sayin'

It's OK Jake. Maybe that is true but we have seen some different things that really hurt us over the last few weeks. Besides, you always have to pick somebody every week. Then again ... maybe notJake wrote:I picked him because he actually controlled the 3 punts that went inside the 20 instead of booting them out of the endzone like he usually does.

I know his other punts sucked but his 3 that were inside the 10 were really important.
It's not always easy to pick a ST player of the week, especially when there's a lot of bad to go with the good.

Agreed. I don't know why we cut him in the first place.

Groom over Frost would be a definite upgrade in my opinion... at least Groom 'caught' the odd one... all Frost does is hope for the fortuitous bounce.
The Chargers figured out that if you don't let his punts hit the ground... you'll get great field position.
And anyone who watches Sundays game will figure that out too. He has to go. But I've been writing that for a couple of weeks...

he seems to pooch punt it everytime he,s out there too.he needs to drive his leg thru the ball,i guess he hasn,t figured that one out quite yet.there were some standouts but they happened earlier in the game not when it really counted.
frost did cost us field position all day long.
boss your right the coverage is confused alot of times because of this.

I thought they pulled the trigger too soon on Groom when they let him go, but I really didn't mind it at the time because they said Frost had the added ability to be able to kickoff (with some distance)... well obviously that's not the case because Hall can barely get the ball past the 10 and we've still never seen a hint of Frost attempting a kickoff... so much for scouting reports...

Frost can kickoff. They used him on the one and only kickoff in the Giants game and it landed inside the 5.

Really? I can't believe I missed that... if he kicked off in the Giant's game, you'd think they would've used him when Hall came back so he wouldn't risk injuries on kickoffs...

I can't believe he's still on the roster. I cringe every time I see him punt. Our coverage teams have been pretty good considering the quality of consistency of his punting.
I can't believe there aren't quality guys out there to bring in to compete for the job. There's no doubt he should be cut.
If he can kickoff deep, we should at least get that out of him while he's on the roster. Hall consistently kicks short IMO.

"In the mid-1970s, the elder Frost was in St. Louis Cardinals training camp when Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs was the St. Louis offensive backfield coach. Just a few years later, Frost was a graduate assistant on a Northeast Missouri State team that featured current Redskins assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams as the quarterback"
I see now... Apparently Gibbs and Williams are buddies with Frost's dad... that explains it...
