Seriously, do you know HOF voters or something? I'm just curious, and of course I agree Monk should be in the hall. He was just an absolutely great player, and unlike too many of today's receivers, he had a ton of class and did all his talking through his play.

You are on a good path of rehabilitation in my book.

We know who the voters are. We have contacted them in the past with letters and messages. We will do the same this year.

Just for the record, stats (rec-yds-TDs):
MONK - 940 - 12,721 - 68
Irvin - 750 - 11,904 - 65
Reed - 951 - 13,198 - 87
TOP 10 APPEARANCES:
MONK (16 yrs): rec-4, yds-3, TDs-1
Irvin (14 yrs): rec-4, yds-6, TDs-5
Reed (16 yrs): rec-5, yds-3, TDs-4
RINGS:
Monk 3
Irvin 3
Reed 0
Of course, at no time were either Irvin or Reed ever the NFL's all-time leading receiver.

Freak, they don't care about the stats. (When I say they, I mean the selectors.) It's not entirely clear what the nay voters are using for criteria, but there's definitely some feeling that Art Monk doesn't deserve to stand with the GOAT's. You, I and others without the right to vote, disagree.
He needs to get in soon, in my view. When Jerry Rice become eligible in four years, the standards (whatever they are) will be forever changed...and no human being will ever be selected to the HOF as a WR ever again.
Really. They'll be putting in ball boys first.
If there was anything I could change about the process, it would be that the selectors would have their vote and reasoning made public.
It's not like a presidential election or anything. I don't think that they're entitled to the privacy they have now. I think that you have no chance of changing a man's mind about judging another man's career if it isn't clear who has what problem with Monk.

I think Irving working for TV make him now a "colleague" of the voters, and it woulndn't surprise me at all if he gets in before Art.
I sure hope Monk makes it this year to the HOF, cause he is the kind of person kids can look up to. Great guy inside and outside the football field.

We will also either re-open the 'Art Monk to the HOF' forum soon or re-visit adding an actual petition page.

Thanks Boss.
Also, a few of us had a debate on this issue on an earlier thread this Fall. A number of great articles and statistics (including comparisons with other candidates and already inducted players) were posted in it about Art and the support of many Redskin and non-Redskin fans for his cause.
There are also some anti-Art articles there and, perhaps more interestingly, some articles that describe the flaws currently embedded in the HOF selection process.
This is it:

Nothing new here, but:
Have to agree about Grimm and Jacoby, but "cut their losses"??? Never. Art Monk belongs, and he belongs there now.
Nothing new here, but:
Grimm is one of this year's semifinalists. Jacoby isn't. If Monk's Hall of Fame campaign falls short again and Grimm is also passed over, it may be time for Redskins supporters to cut their losses and set their sights on what might be an even more egregious oversight: No Hogs in the Hall.
