Carlos should play the whole game

Post by SO. CAL. SKIN DUDE »

I have been monitoring all other rookies at corner, some of which were drafted below Roders, and some of them have been performing well.

So we should start the chant: "Free Carlos Rogers... Free Carlos Rogers."

thats b/c he gives a 15 yard cusion. I think he will be good but right now it is to important to have the best players in there. Is he the best? We don't know. I think he is but GW must not think so.

I haven't really been that impressed with Rogers so far. He tackles well for a corner but he seems to lack the necessary speed to be effective at the position in the NFL.

That sounds like a Madden 2005 Rookie Report.

With all due respect, Gregg Williams is no idiot. If he thought Carlos was able to step in full time right now, I think he'd be given the opportunity.

I'm sure GW wants him out there as much as the fans do... who do you think was responsible for the Skins picking him?

But that doesn't mean you rush his learning curve... and it doesn't matter if 'other' teams are doing it. Playing CB in the NFL requires a lot of confidence... week in and week out, you go against some of the brashest players in the sport. When a CB is thrown to the wolves too early, then it can result in him losing his confidence if he's not quite ready and sometimes permanently.

I think Rogers has a lot of upside and the potential to be a very good NFL cornerback, but there are no guarantees with any draft pick... let him develop as he needs to and let GW be the judge of when he's ready to go out there and perform to the level required. Don't rush a potentially long term solid contributor for the sake of a quick fix.

My 2 cents
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

He did get the first pick of any rookie DB in the SD game...followed like ten seconds later by PacMan, my son tells me.

Well he was getting beat all day on the quick hitch. Harris was at first but then they put Rogers in and the same thing would happen. However I do beleive that Carlos is alot better then Walt Harris, he might be as bad as Jimoh.

So Jimoh is better than Walt ? Walt got a pick.
Jimoh couldn't get a pick in a guitar shop.

what do you mean he lacks the necessary speed, he kept up with mccardell and parker all day, and even though mccardell is 36, he still has some wheels. rogers has speed, he just needs to learn to use it to his advantage, which he did today, twice saving touchdowns, once by almost picking it, and the other by taking it back to the 15 yard line. the kid can play, but he just needs to learn some discipline, and taht comes from standing on the sideline watching shawn springs, one of the best cover corners in the league IMO, do his thing. but now, i think we can play him safely and feel confident that he won't get burned like walt harris.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Hail to the Redskins!

Carlos was victimized today

Post by old-timer »

I think Walt Harris lost his starting job for good today - Carlos did some good things, but it was no accident that the Chargers went after him all day - he made a lot of rookie mistakes that played a large part in at least two of their touchdowns. Nevertheless it looks like he's got the job until he shows he can't handle it, we need him now and he better develop quickly.

That's the imperative on the 1st rounders these days. No more of this sitting around for four years learning on the job...you have to produce right away.
I think Walt is serviceable, and an okay stopgap player who may never fully recover from his injury.

Well it appears to most fans the GW is not as brilliant as he has been made out to be. With the stellar defense he has to work with he still cannot find a way to pressure a QB consistently and he continues to play Walt "the bum" Harris.

Penalties and getting burnt have been Walt Harris trademarks all year.

Carlos Rogers had his rookie break out game today and it was a great sign of times to come in the CB position for the redskins.

Springs has always been solid.

Time to sit Walts A$$ down and let Rogers get the NFL experience to get better.

The only thing that made my ticket worth the money today was watching Rogers, Taylor and Arrington play hard every play. Hopefully it will become contageous.

Rogers played well today. I think good enough to play himself in the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see what happens this week.

He should start. The Rams have some tough WR. I'm looking forward to seeing how he can do against Holt, Bruce, and Curtis.

I actually think we saw GW making his mind up in todays game.
Rogers was involved in more plays as the game went on. I would not be surprised if he starts next week.
