Turnovers

Post by USS Redskin »

All the turnovers are finally catching up with the Skins.
They are what? -13 or -14 in the Turnover ratio now?
Good teams, Playoff Teams don't cough it up 3 times in a game at home in the playoff hunt.

Hold on to the freakin ball!
Just beat Dallas - they are A-H****

Interesting that there are no replies to this thread. Yep the offense is continuously turning the ball over but everyone here loves to turn a blind eye to it. They believe that our ailing defense is not only supposed to account for the usual amount of times that the opponenet gets the ball but also when the our own offense messes up. Nobody takes into consideration how many times our offense has put this defense into a horrible field position predicament.

No, they'd rather whine about everything else except the one unit that has truely stifled us this season. At least the defense has an excuse, the announcer today hit it head on, pass coverage and the pass rush go hand and hand. This offense has no excuse.

Thats our turnover ratio....Whats worse is how many times we have coughed it up right next to our own endzone!

At least I won't have to read this on TMQ anymore, "The Redskins are the only team in the league with a winning record depsite having a negative turnover ratio."

I think Joe ought to make everybody carry the rock everywhere they go all week to remind 'em how to do it.
To be fair, it's hard to protect a ball that a Simeon Rice type guy is trying to punch out of the cradle.

Hit em where it hurts, in the pockets.

Fine anyone who fumbles $10,000 and put it in a pot. Give it to a charity. Thats what I'd do.

Oh, my. That'd do it for me, too.

Chris Luva hit it on the head - not that the D is without blame - they could get a few turnovers to help out...

Also - thanks for the cool site - I love Hogs.net

The offense sputtered, to say the least, and the defense faded toward the end. However, this is a team effort, and, again, this season, we failed to win, as a team. Fumbles are not good. Period.

fade at the end or no, holding the opposition to 16 points should be enough to win a game. especially when the d helped with 6 of their own.

Sputtered? Why were they even on the field, they contributed nothing positive. Our offense was playing for the Raiders not the Redskins.

Yes, because our offense gave up 16 points.

I mean, whoever decided to disguise Brunell in the #98 jersey on the deep ball to Porter, or Portis in the #75 jersey on Special Teams to block Janikowski's field goal should be hanged.

C'mon, Chris, we get it. The offense should shoulder some of the blame, and there should be amillion posts to blame them, but c'mon, we can't start dividing the team into different segments, while the coach is trying to instill a sense of teamwork. Remember, "united we stand, divided we fall." My 2 cents

And put up how many? 6.

I guess technically it wasn't even our offense. Our defense scored 6 (TD) and our SPECIAL TEAMS scored 7 (2 FG's and 1 EP).

I understand that, but to call an offense that a week ago put up 20+ points inept sounds too much like fairweather fan syndrome. I'm not against seeing this team be consistent, but I'm not about to throw them under the bus. There are six games remaining on our schedule, and EVERYONE of them is winnable, in my book. It'll require a total team effort to do it, but it CAN be done. Offense, Defense, Special Teams....everyone needs to commit to executing the plays called, and we can be sitting p[retty in the division. With Dallas going up against Denver and the Giants playing Seattle, we can totally be within a game of the division lead with 5 games to go. Okay, I'll stop ranting now.

Redeemed Im harping on the offense to spite those who only recognize defensive mistakes. This offensive bullcrap has been happening since the loss in Denver but they were never held responsible. Im all for the teamwork but on here Im standing up for the defense.

Oh. :-s

I think that this week it was evident that the offense didn't do enough to win and committed mistakes. I really haven't seen many talk badly about the defense this week.

But, if you must, continue harping. Thanks for clarifying WHy you're doing it. I was starting to take you for a pessismist, and I can't let you drive while under the influence of pessimism.

I believe we held the ball for 2:42 seconds in the 4th quarter. You can't win when your offense goes 3 and out in the 4th quarter after goaline stands by the defense. The offense is to blame for this loss. Period.

According to NFL.com. there have been 36 fumbles in Redskins games. 27 have been recovered by the other team. The Redskins have fumbled 21 times on offence, with the opposition recovering 15 of those. Dallas and Chicago have fumbled 22 times, and Atlanta 19. They've all lost a lower percentage than the Redskins (Dallas 8, Chicago 12, and Atlanta 10).

Sure, they need to hang onto the damn ball, but there's luck in here as well. Hell, there's probably voodoo and feng shui involved as well.

Chris - you're right, the offence doesn't have the injury excuse that the defence has. People look at the fact that the defence conceded the winning score yesterday. They should never have been on the field in the first place. Even when they weren't fumbling the ball, the offence wasn't doing anything. This may be the most overpaid o-line in the league. Never before has so much been paid for so little. Oh, now I've gone into a rant. Probably time for a new thread on the o-line. Maybe I'll go and fix that.

The offense let the defense down Sunday, no question about that, from Gibbs on down that offense stank. It's stunning to me that Robert Royal still has a job. Nor do I put any stock in the give Taylor Jacobs a chance philosopy, he's had three years of chances. He earns one of the easiest paychecks in the NFL.

There's no denying that they were this week.

After 10 games we are worst in the leaque in both fumbles lost on Offense and Fumbles recovered on Deffense. That would make you think that we don't force fumbles very often and caugh the ball up a lot. You would only be half right. The D has force 18 fumbles (tied for 7th best), but only has recovered 3 (NFL low). The O has fumbled 21 times (tied for 5th worst), and has lost an NFL high 15 of them.

What does all this mean - the ball has literally not bounced our way on D and the O puts the ball on the ground way too much and they lose more than statistics show they should. So does this team not hussle or is it just plain unlucky.

On a second note the D is 30th on the league in INTs and the worst in the league in pass deffenses. They are tied with Cinci of 29th worst in the NFL in sacks, but Cinci leads the league in INTs and we are 30th,... go figure!

This team has a bad case of Murphy's law, it seam everything that can go wrong will. And I don't think a Coach can change Murphy's law!
