I may be wrong but I don't think Farris is eligible for the practice squad.

I thought they were going to base the decision on what the surgeon saw. He must not have had much to say.

I think this has more to do with his lack of production. Patten has not been able to make the big play when they have gone to him. Why wait for him to heal, let the next guy have a go.

IIIIIFFFFFF Jacobs can stay on the field without getting another boo-boo then I really think that he can a nice WR.

I have questions about him though that can't be answered until Sunday.

My questions are:

His aggressiveness, will he fight for the ball?

David Patten was a pushover and let the CB punk him for position.

Leaping ability, Brunell likes to toss it high a lot.

Ability to get open against better CB's, he's mostly been playing against scrub 4th string DB's.

Can he take a hit without dropping the ball? I dont know, he seems like a softy to me. Prove me wrong.

I'm excited that the kid's getting a chance to play.

With Patten going on IR, he won't be able to say at the end of the season that he didn't have a chance. He should have time to become comfortable in the role, and start to show what he is capable of. It would be unfair to expect him to have 8 catches for 150 yards on Sunday, but if he's the real deal, he should become more productive game by game.

He can't have less of an impact than Patten, can he? Let's hope he can provide the threat we need opposite Moss.

Kinda surprised Gibbs just moved him to the #2 over the vet Thrash. Hopefully he takes off with the opportunity and we forget about how bad patten has been...

I would be absolutely thrilled to death to see some homegrown talent come up aces on Sunday.
Taylor can do so many things, but remember...he was brought here for his familiarity in the Fun 'n Gun. Gibbs kept him around mostly for special teams. It's time for the kid to show us what he can really do. He'll never get a better chance then the one sitting in front of him right now.

He could be in a crunch. He is a great third option. His enormous value lies in his MULTIPLE abilities to help the team on several roles, inckuding Special Teams both ways. I love to have a player of his character and discipline in our locker room.

I still like the choice of Taylor Jacobs as #2 against the Raiders. This is his chance like no other. I was a great supporter of him. I also feel that he must show CLL wrong on those doubts. I will scream in front of my TV today in suport of him too.

Go Taylor! (Just -think- about the name that you have, just do so).

We haven't seen a lot of him on the field, so let's just remind ourselves why he was drafted:

Injury prone was left off that list, but who knew.

Let's hope he's past that and can step in and produce

I wasn't impressed by Jacobs today. Not a lot of explosiveness, an inability to get separation, and poor running down the sidelines in those fade routes. :|

Well, it looks like he'll have more playing time this season to contribute, if he can.

Amen, today was Taylor Jacobs chance to show us that he was good, but instead he showed us that he is not a football player.

He played like crap today, and I think we have serious WR problems.

Hopefully there are still some good WR on waviers because we need to pick up a few vet. WR's STAT.

You had your shot Jacobs.
He can't run his routes and can't get separation.
It's not like Brunell didn't look his way whenever he was in there. He flat out sucked.

Taylor Jacobs is a receiver for mid range cuts. He is not a deep threat. He was out of place. What a pity for him and us to have missed his chance.

Are you all going to really write him off after one game? We can give Patten all season but Jacobs only gets one game?

Jacobs was misused in this game and the play calling was downright pathetic. 3 fly routes to Jacobs in a row?!

Jacobs pulled away from the guy, he has speed but the ball wasn't there. Im not saying he's Moss but give him a fair chance.

Samuels
Royal
Patten
Dockery
Patrick

Those guys are past their chance allotment.

Another negative Taylor had was when he was called for Holding on CP's 23 yard gain. Then next play CP fumbles and the Raiders put up points.

Actually now that I think about it, everytime Clinton has a monster run, it's called back for Holding (Mostly on Dockery)

But on another note, what are we going to do for our WR situation???

Depending how long Thrash is hurt, are current WR are listed as
1) Moss
2) Jacobs
3) Parsons

We are is deep you know what if our WR corps looks like that from now on. I say we bring in Kevin Dyson and maybe another veteran, but then that brings up the question... who do we cut?

Dyson is not the answer. What we need is for Taylor to get a few more games under his belt. It's too soon to judge. Off all the games he's ever played at this level, you couldn't make a full season if you added 'em up. Throw into the mix that Brunell has no timing with him, and you've got the picture. He will be fine. No need to cut him loose.

But with Thrash out we would need another WR and someone to return punts

What's the skinny on Thrash, btw ? I saw him grabbing that hammy on the way to the tunnel.

NFL.com is showing Jacobs has 31 games under his belt so far in his career. I think it's safe to say if he hasn't broken out as a starter and game-changer by now, it's not going to happen. He's probably going to be a career 3rd or 4th WR, if that, at this point.
