Official Playoff Watch

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Official Playoff Watch

Post by The Hogster »

Yeah, I know, we need to take it one game at a time. Right now Im only thinking about the Raiders. But this thread is intended for us to post some of the key matchups in the NFC each week that have playoff implications. Just to keep people around the nation up to date on who we should be fans of each week.

Week 11:

Oakland @ Washington = Skins -6 Go Skins
Philly @ New York = Giants -7 Go Iggles
Tampa @ Atlanta = Atlanta -7 Wash
Cowboys @ Detroit = Dallas -8 Go Lions
Carolina @ Chicago = Chicago +3 Wash
SPIT HAPPENS!!

Sadly, I don't see the Pies or the Iggles losing this week. Of course, that's what I thought when lowly Minnesota traveled to the Meadowlands last week. So, who knows?

Thanks for keeping us updated, Hogster.

Yeah I hear ya, its always fun to look up at the Tron (if you're at the game) or have a reason to check out an otherwise uneventful game for an interesting outcome.

hey, maybe a weekly update on the wildcard and division leader status? kind of like an 'if the season ended today' kind of thing?

Somewhat..just something to make the other games interesting. We have no problem focusing on our games, its that Pukes / Lions game that I have no desire to watch, but knowing the implications, I can be a Joey Harrington fan for a little while.

current standings (as best as i can tell):

NFC East winner: Dallas (6-3)

NFC North winner: Chicago (6-3)

NFC South winner: Carolina (7-2)

NFC West winner: Seattle (7-2)

Wildcard 1: NY Giants (6-3)
Wildcard 2: Tampa Bay (6-3)

Others:
Atlanta (6-3)
Washington (5-4)

of course, the above doesn't mean much until some important games are played. for example, dallas wins the division only because they beat the giants in their only meeting, despite having the same record. obviously, they play again, which will further determine their status. also, atlanta and tampa bay play each other twice before the end of the season. big games.

in any case, that's how it stands at the moment.

With Mcnabb out and contemplating Sports Hernia season ending surgery, no TO and Mike McMahon running the ship I don't see how the Iggles can win a game the rest of the season and can't say im disappointed to say that.

It's time to move on from the Bucs game, for sure. Now we have a little perspective on the playoff situation - one game behind the Cowboys and the Giants, with both having to play in DC before the season is out. The Eagles are in freefall, and nobody is head & shoulders above the rest in the NFC.
I am officially remaining optimistic.
