What happened to Mark Rypien?
I didnt know where to put this post, so I am putting it here.
Whatever happened to Mark Rypien? I'm looking at his stats here (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1064) and it gets a bit weird near the end. According to this, he left in 1997, and came back for one more year in 2001. Anyone know why? Maybe its a mistake on the page, but I doubt it.
Just wondering.

Pretty tragic
Wow! That's really sad to hear. I still remember that Super Bowl.
Anyway, call me crazy, but didn't Ryp work in the Rams organization for little bit.

DeBerg was with the Falcons in 1998; Rypien was never with the team.
In 2001, the Falcons had Chris Chandler, Mike Vick and Doug Johnson at quarterback.
EDIT: Rypien's career stats: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/p ... piMa00.htm

Was he married to a Skins cheerleader. For some reason I remember collecting some 1992 proline football cards as a kid and they had some player wife cards in the set as well. I recall his wife being in the set and on her card she talked about being a cheerleader for the Redskins. I never knew his wife and son died. Another interesting thing about Mark is that his cousin was NHL tough guy Shane Churla who played for the North Stars and Rangers and few other teams, was pretty much a goon.......

Saw him on ESPN2 last night, he picked the hawks over the skins. Foolish!

He's just like all the other fools. Gibbs will have all the "experts" scratching their heads after the game.

DON'T SING IT! BRING IT!

Ran into Ryp at a charity golf tourney at Renditions this summer. He was great - signed a football for me and was very personable (of course this may have been from all of the Bud Lights he was pounding).
We talked about Joe Gibbs for a while and Ryp said that Coach was absolutely gonna get it done, which gave me a lot of confidence.
He did talk about his ex-wife, the cheerleader, in some remarks to the group. He had nothing good to say and it was actually pretty brutal but funny.

"Okay guys, this is for $25,000 and a big @#!!% ring."
