Least Valuable Player

Post by redskins56 »

It's one thing not to make an impact... It's another to hurt your team, and act as a detriment... With that in mind it's time I throw it out there.

Walt Harris is killing us. He was beat for two more touchdown's, including the final long ball, and four passes longer that 25 yards. Are you kidding me? I can tolerate him missing two out of every three tackles, but if I wanted to see someone get burned every down I'd watch Ade Jimoh at CB...

All in favor of hanging Harris' picture on my wall of shame say I... I'll start with an I...

I don't know whether to blame Walt himself. Maybe too much is being asked of him? He's no #1 CB and hardly a #2 at this rate, but when we put him on an island, blitz all our linebackers, have a crappy FS in Prioleau, blitz Springs... Harris has his uses, but his weaknesses really get exploited when he's thrust to the front. I guess my vote this week for Least Valuable would be G. Williams.

I can't blame this whole loss on Harris either. Brunnell shouldn't have fumbled, Patten should have caught that ball that hit him in his hands. Brunnell shouldn't have thrown that ball across the field.............and so on. But this team has got some fight in it. I'm kind of shocked with the amount of intensity that they play with. I know it might sound crazy, but gosh dang! They played hard at every play. It seems like we're so close yet so far away.

If only we could beat someone other than Dallas on the road this year. Wait......what am I saying? It would be freakin HILARIOUS if the only team we beat on the road this year is Dallas. Especially since that was their 'ring of shame' game. Nevermind. As long as Dallas is the only team we beat on the road this year; I'm happy. :D

But you know what, today I saw where Greg Williams was comming from when he was benching LaVar.

Did you notice on all 3 goaline plays (including the 2 pt. conversion) that instead of watching where Alstott was going, LaVar just jumped over the pile "hoping" to make a big play.

Now I am a fan of the huge play, but maybe LaVar does need to be more disciplined when on his assignments.

let's not forget david patten. one of those INTs was his fault, and he dropped a crucial 3rd down conversion at some point as well. which might be ok if he ever did anything good for us, but we're 9 games into the season and he hasn't done CRAP.

DAVID PATTEN NEEDS TO GO.
give jacobs a chance, or bump up thrash. why are we wasting a route every play on this loser?

I think you are underestimating how fast the game is. The first two plays Alstott jumped the frickin pile. There is not much you can do about that when everyone blasts off the ball low.

Anticipating that, Arrington jumped to make contact and actually did on the last play. If he "waited" he would have never been in the play. That is pro football and from the half yard line he had no time at all to wait and watch Alstott.

What I don't understand is why would GWilliams blitz Springs and leave WHarris on a WR???? It would make so much more sense if they reversed the play assignments.

Because Patten knows what it takes to win. Jacobs is an injury waiting to happen. Give Patten time, he'll come around.

I suspect it's because Springs can tackle. Harris tends to merely create a breeze as he flies by. If you send someone on a blitz, they should be able to finish the play, not merely cool the quarterback off.

if he "knows" so much about what it takes to win, make him a coach. but stop wasting a spot on the field. he has had more than enough time. he sucks.

Patten has been given plenty of opportunities to prove his worth, and had failed miserably every time, he has to go.

What are you talking about? Lavar is definatly not the problem on this defense. The reason that he was going up in the air was because Alstott went high over the pile on his first 2 td runs. Lavar going high on the 2 point conversion forced Alstott to go low and gave us a chance at stopping him.

Did you notice that Lavar went high and Campbell went low. Thats what they are supposed to do. And honestly, Alsott didn't get in. His elbow was down in front of the goal line and like they said, the ball can't be in front of your elbow.

There have been so many more problems than walt harris this year. Everyone on the team has made mistakes and that is expected. One thing about it, we have won and lost as a team this year which is something we haven't been able to say in the past.

Moss' talent overcomes his size...Patten looked like a little kid getting knocked over and the ball taken from him.

I'd rather have an incompletion than a TD. We weren't getting to the QB all day anyway. GW's blitzing schemes are clearly not working, we did not even have one sack. If Springs was on the WR, we'd definitely have a chance to do something to avoid the 6 points.

I agree with you there. Not did the blitzes not work yesterday, they haven't worked all frikin year!!! We have several games where don't get EVEN 1 sack!! At some point he has got to realize that he is hurting us more than helping us.

You would think he would have fixed it by now, the only change I have noticed is that it seems like we are more frequently brining up our linebackers to blitz at the last second, but other than that, i have not seen them make the changes we obviously need to more productive.
