The thing i want to see Brunell do now is...
Take the sack. I'm a Brunell fan. I've always felt he gives us the best chance to win I love the way he throw the ball away to aviod the sack when he can, however he needs to realize he's not 25 anymore and he doesn't need to take on these DE's in the NFL. Case and point yesterday against Rice he should have just gotten down, no need to take him on. He's done this several times this year and has coughed the ball up more then once. Also I don't want to see him get hurt. Take the sack in tose situations Mark, we need you on the field!!

He definitely took one when we least needed him to (the last play of the game). He just gave up.

I'd have to look at the game film, but it seems to me that he had no options available while he was being swarmed.
However, now that I think about it, he coulda done more. He shoulda lined up on special teams to block the extra point. HE would not have jumped offsides. I haven't seen an offsides or false start penalty on him ALL YEAR LONG.

maybe toss it up and hope for an interference penalty, rather than taking the sure sack??

Afer being screwed by two-three calls in the same game already???? While you are absolutely right, I think chances are we don't get the call in Tampa. Mark shouldn't have been in that position anyway.
I think he had already started to ice his arm down, after the punt. Gregg let him down.

A better throw to Betts and there is no 4th down attempt, but he played well enough throughout to give him a pass, and I'm no Brunell apologist like *ahem* some other posters around here.

DEHog, help me out, bro. I don't follow what you are tryin' to say here. Please explain. Thanks.

I think he's saying that it would have probably been the right decision to just chuck it and hope Moss makes the catch, but that Brunell is a player, and a player tries to make plays when he thinks he can or thinks it is the only play that has a chance.

Ohhh. Okay, thanks. Yes, it makes sense. Didn't the game against the Broncos end the same way? I can't remember. Maybe it was the KC game? It's kinda a catch-22 when he's in that situation. He threw it against KC, the ball was tipped, and that was moronic. He takes the sack, and it's moronic. The verdict, then is in = we need a cerebral QB.

What he said...and just to add. I TiVoed that game and was watching a few plays and the play where Brunell fumbled on the 8 yards line is a play I think he could have just tucked the ball and taken the sack. He saw Rice coming the whole way, it wasn't like he was blindsided?? Instead he tried to out run Rice and had the ball out for Rice to make the play.
Again not asking him to make every play just like to see him make a better discision in this case and others like it!
