Missing the Playoffs by 1 game

Post by Justice Hog »

If, for some reason, the Redskins miss the playoffs by one game this year, I'm sure most of us will point to this game (against the Bucs) as the reason: since most of us are of the mindset that this game was taken away.

I, for one, hope, however, that the Redskins won't be in the position where they are fighting for that last playoff spot with other teams. I am hoping the Redskins team, especially the defense, gets inspired by this game and takes it to every team ahead of us.....finishing strong.

That way, we will be "assured" a playoff spot.

If they weren't inspired after that game against the Giants then they won't be. If they still havent stopped giving up big plays on defense by game 9, it's unlikely they will. Big plays against our defense and turnovers is what it is all about this year. We can't get out of our own way so how are we going to the playoffs??? Here is one for you, losing a wildcard...to the Bucs.

You are looking at a team that is in year 2 of a 3 year rebuilding process. If we make the playoffs - and we can - that is great. Next year with some key additions, we will be ready to make the rush at the SB.

My 2 cents

I like your optimism NC Hog.

If guys like Dockery, Rogers, and Jacobs improve and we get a pass rushing DE next offseason then we'll be sitting pretty...

I just hope the older guys can hold out... like Brunell and Springs...

Watching Walt Harris week in and week out reminds me of how much of a difference Fred Smoot made for out defense.

Anyone watch the Giants game? I can't help but notice how Pierce is ALL OVER THE PLACE! I wish we would have paid him and kept him. I think losing those 2 guys really killed the defense this year.

Those 2 guys I think made all the difference in the world.

I hope this is going to be a good year for us, this team has 7 games to charge into the playoffs and i hope they do, because for the short term its either this year or next year, and after that its not exactly going to bepretty once jason campbell begins to start as essentially a rookie for his first year or two. A year ago i wouldnt have thought i would be saying this but... it almost seems like the rest of this year will essentially revolve around the play of the defense... The offense is doing enough for us to win but the defense just isnt holding on, usually when you score 35 points it should be a W, but tonight that was not the case. Playoff teams play good defense, period.

This game was gut wrenching and touch to swallow, but we are only 1 game out of 1st place in the East.

We still control our own destiny...keep in mind we can win the division with a worse record than the wild card teams, and still get in.

We need to stick together.

We have 4 losses...but 11-5 should win our division the way things are shaking out. I just don't see any team in the NFC East going 7-1 or better.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

The worst part about this loss, was that it came to another potential Wild Card team.

Also, we could have tied the Giants for 1st becasue they lost to Minny.

Oh well, hopefully this loss will not derail the guys' spirits. Let's just look ahead to Oakland.

you hit the nail on the head. we probably just signed our own death warrant. err, the refs grabbed our hands and helped us move the pen, but we certainly didn't pull it away.

Who put that notion in your head? Sorry Punu - we ain't there yet - and definitely not on the defensive line. We are better than last year and we will be better next year, mark my words.

Oh, GOOD teams control turnovers. It's all part of the pie baby!
