He was benched in the second half thank god!! When I say benched, I just mean that Arrington was at WLB in the Base 4-3 alignment.

Holdman is still the OLB in the 3-4.

All the big plays were on Holdmans side Geez. Taylor was a little out of position but come on now they were picking on holdmans side. Eli didnt do much damage in the air. When is Lavar gonna start man. We are the redskins nation and should let our woes be known.

He messed up. The plays were on his side.

We gotta let it go though. Time to move on and Focus on Philly.

I know Holdman sucks at taking on blockers, but a lot of the times when I was watching LaVar, he was getting blocked pretty easily as well.

I just think our defense needs to remember the fundamentals and take better angles, then we'll be all right.

Taylor was out of position all day long. Matter of fact, no one was in position all day long.

Taylor may have taken a few bad angles but I didn't really notice him being out of position in relation to the defensive scheme. And atleast Taylor was out there playing hard and with emotion, which is more than you can say about most of our players.

This week would be the perfect time to start LaVar. It is a home game, in prime-time, while we are coming off a big loss.

This is NOT about one player. It is about ONE team coming together and playing with a single intense purpose.

Lavar missed the tackle on the score by Shockey. Nobody did well yesterday.

Lets not forget how many times my boy Sean didn't wrap up on a tackle and went for the ball when he was the last line of defense.

as much as i love lavar i think we're all living in a dream world as far as he's concerned. he did miss that tackle on shockey for the score which was ridiculous, and he was getting blocked too easily bc his only move was a bullrush and then if it was stopped he would jump up and try to blcok the pass. playing as a LB however, he was much more effective. do i think they should bench holdman and start lavar. no. do i think they should play lavar in holdman's spot more and phase holdman out of the defense. yes. it makes the most sense, that way the entire defense gets used to lavar's speed as opposed to holdman's lack of it, whcih in turn allows people to take more risks and create havoc in the defensive backfield, something we sorely need.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

I agree. The main point is that all the big plays are not going to Holdman's side, they are going to the weak side. Holdman has played more but Lavar has also been in on many of the long runs.

Only one big run has gone to the right side and that's because we have Marcus Washington over there and he is just amazing. On the left side both Lavar and Holdman have been liabilities. Lavar was the guy on the field for the two TD runs against the 49ers and both times they ran to the area of the field where he had lined up. On one play he got blown up by a block and the other he got way out of position and never made it back. I don't know if it's the scheme or what but both of these guys are just always overpursuing and getting burned on the cutback.

Holdman had a particularly bad day on Sunday but Lavar didn't play very well either. The porblem isn't with any particular player but with the defense overall. The tackling on Sunday was the worst I have ever seen from a Gregg Williams defense. Holdman is an easy scapegoat but he is far from the only problem we have on defense this year.

Lavar didn't miss the tackle on Shockey.

He got run over. That's just embarrasing. I'm sure Holdman would have done just as "good" a job.

That's not really all that accurate. Lavar was covering Shockey and Shockey had a step on him and Lavar tried to make a tackle from behind to try to bring him down. Not exactly getting run over. If I remember correctly there were 2 other Skins (can't remember who but I think one was Marshall) that had opportunites to tackle Shockey on that play but weren't able to do so. Lavar isn't the first, and wont be the last, player that wasn't able to bring down Shockey in the open field. Lavar's missed tackle aside you can't really argue that Holdman hasn't been terrible. I doubt that the reason for his being on the sideline during the second half was because the coaching staff was trying to save him for the Eagles. The entire team missed tackles but Holdman couldn't get himself in position to make a tackle because he couldn't get off any of his blocks.

Bottom line is Lavar in there we have more positives than negatives. Holdman is simply a liability to put it nicely.Lavar gives us more positives than negatives. He missed a tackle on shockey but thats after Holdman gave up a big run to Barber.

I think it'd be impossible to argue that Holdman is as good a football player as Lavar.

However, Lavar makes errors also. It's not like our defense is going to be amazing with Lavar playing full time. We have a lot more issues at the moment than purely WLB play.

I think Sean was doing a great thing. My father used to scream for someone to attempt to knock the ball out in the 90's. Sean just needs a bit more situational awareness when he goes for a strip.

"Ok we're in a Bear defense im the lone safety playing zone over top..., o crap here he comes let me try to knock the ball out.." - wrong

"ok we're in a bear defense im the lone safety playing zone over top..., o crap here he comes let me stand him up and allow my teammates to catch up and attack the ball!" - correct!
